I'm currently reading Leo Tolstoy's "Anna Karenina" and Hubert Fichte's "Detlev's Imitations". If you have the time try to read Tolstoy, or at least something by a Russian writer(Dostoevsky, Chekhov are also great). Fichte's work is important reading material if you'd like to understand the morality and implications of the Holocaust.

I too like Laurell K Hamilton. Both the Anita Blake series and the Merry Gentry series.
I just finished all of the series thats out so far written by J.R. Ward. Also another vampire series but much different from Hamilton's. It was pretty good. But my all time favorite book that I have read multiple times and will continue to do so is Outlander written by Diana Gabaldon. No vampires. It falls under many genres so I can't really classify it.

I am writing my own book right now and yes I would recommend them...hehe...shameless self promotion I know.
I would recommend Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

I just finished reading "Summer Sisters" by Judy Blume and would recommend it to everyone. It was a real page turner. I normally don't recommend books but this one was great!

Right now I'm reading Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series. I absolutely love the books, and would highly recommend them to everyone who enjoys horror, fantasy, and/or vampire novels.
