The Theory of Evolution is not a just a 'theory'. (Rant)

There's another push in our education system to stress the word 'theory' when it comes to evolution. You might be asking yourself 'what's the big deal, it is just a theory?' Here's where the problem lies. Be it because of our confusing language, or because America has a stunningly large population of people who are scientifically ignorant, for some odd reason, it's common to see people walking around with a misunderstanding of just what a 'theory' is. You know how theory usually means educated guess? Well that doesn't apply in science. In science, a theory is more along the lines of an explanation or a model of natural phenomena. It is based by rational explanation and facts. Surely you must all remember the the scientific method? 1.)Ask a question, 2.)do background research, 3.)construct your hypothesis, 4.)test your hypothesis, then based on your results, 5.)draw a conclusion and report your results. A theory is the end result of all of this. You've already got your facts, and your test results. At this point it's time for other people to test your theory and add on to it, or disprove it, if they can. Unfortunately, this simple fact escapes people when it comes to evolution. To try and discredit it even a little they'll shrug it off as 'just a theory' and convince themselves it's little more than an educated guess or speculation. I blame this on both our education system, and the unwillingness of people to even try to learn something about science. If it weren't for this misunderstanding of the word 'theory', you wouldn't see all these people griping about how 'the textbooks teach evolution as fact. They should make sure the textbook includes that evolution is a theory.' Then it leads to a waste of tax money, because our legislators are battling over whether or not we should include a single word in our texts that doesn't even have to be there. So in conclusion, folks, - for those who actually want to waste resources trying to put a single word in the science books because they think evolution is 'just a theory': STOP WASTING MY FREAKING TAX MONEY! Educate yourselves on exactly what a theory is before you start throwing around that 'evolution is just a theory' crap. These militant creationist slime balls are doing nothing more than wasting our time and money over nothing important. You're dumbing down our students with your own stupidity.

I am surpised that this discussion did not get any respondes. Eveolution must be taught as theory, because it has not been proven as law. Let me explain before you blow up on me. Look I am against waisting tax(my money) just as much as your are, but we did to teach everything correctly. First of all there are more than just Darwin's theory on evolution. Secondly if it is not taught as a theory there will be no reason to try to prove it. Thridly there are holes in all the theory, so if you do not but in the science books those holes you are teaching faulty science, because science is a battle ground. Look at the fight over our solar system. Some said that the Earth was the center of the solar system, some said that the Sun was. If there is not conflict in science then some of our greatest minds in science would not have rised to the top.

It's impossible to 'prove' any scientific theory. That's the whole point. And yes, evolution is 'not just A theory', it's the leading theory. A theory having stood so much scrutiny and with so much evidence to support it, it's accepted pretty much universally in scientific circles as a generally working model, and is taken as a fair assumption in theories that build on it. I think evolution should be taught 'as a theory' and those words included in the text books. To leave them out is to deprive students of the very understanding of scientific method you advocate Latrivia. Yes, I recognise the cynical way those who would seek to promote creationism as being on a par with evolutionary theory approach this. But the problem is them misrepresenting scientific method, not that they say evolution is 'just a theory'.
