Do you think you are doing a good job?  |

 Of raising your children. My kids are 7 and 2 and I have a step daughter that is 12 I think I'm doing a good job. I mean I'm not the perfect mom I raise my voice at them and do things that I know other parents won't do but my kids rescpect me and there teachers and there father and there elders. They don't swear....welll at me or around me and they are well behaved and you usually only have to tell them once maybe twice if they are excited But they are great kids and I love them to death but i was wondering am I doing a good job and do you know that when they are this young or is it when they are all grown up and have a good life of there own that you know you did a good job in raising them?

Ravenladyj (14063) | 7 months ago |  I think when they are young is the BEST time to tell whether or not you are doing a good job and it just increases as they get older, develop their own personalities, use their voice more etc etc....I'm FAR FROM a coventional parent on pretty much all levels but i KNOW I'm doing a great job raising my kids...not only because of what I see in them, how they behave etc etc but in the compliments I get on them from friends, family, school staff and complete strangers....Which of course is a great feeling:-D

2.  cynicalandoutspoken (1950) | 7 months ago |  You are doing just fine. The mother who says she never raises her voice at her children is a liar.
My kids are going to be 12, 7, 6, and 2 this year. I can see now that I am doing a good job by the way they treat others, and the way they do what is asked of them (most of the time without complaining) and how giving they are to other people less fortunate like around the holidays when they use their own money to buy toys for less fortunate kids.
But I believe the true measure of my parenting will be shown to me when they are older and have families of their own. it is then that i will truly be able to see what values I taught them stuck with them in how well they raise their own kids, treat their spouses and jobs they hold.

| 4. cjthedog64 (1533) | 7 months ago |  I have 16 & 13 yr old stepkids, and I know I've done a decent job with them, but they have a lot of issues that they've had to deal with because of their mom. I also have a 2 yr old son who is growing up to be a wonderful little boy. He reassures me that I'm a good parent. He doesn't have those other influences, and I haven't changed my parenting style at all.

| Ravenladyj (14063) | 7 months ago | Yea we had issues with my 26 yr old step daughter a few yrs ago thanks to not just her mum but her dad and stepdad too...She was spoiled rotten her whole life and grew up to be a very greedy, nasty, conniving, heartless pc of work, I havent wanted to have anything to do with her since my son (her half brother) passed away and forbid her around my kids and our house...My husband hasn't had any contact with her in a couple yrs now after her last evil stunt....I've told him a few times to consider seeing if she's grown up at all and changed but he really doesnt want anything to do with her....Understandable though...My brothers daughter is the same way...spoiled rotten by him and now that she's a teen its really starting to show....It really does let me know though that I AM doing a great job.... | |

| 5. littleone3 (619) | 7 months ago |  I think you know you are doing a good job when other people comment on how polite or well behaved your children are. I am a mum of five four boys ages 16,14,7 and 20 months and one girl aged 10.
Peolpe often come up to me and tell my that my children are a credit to me. Also like you i do raise my voice now and again and like any family we have our run ins. But am pleased to say i have five children that i can be proud off.

| 6. stephcjh (11826) | 7 months ago |  It sounds to me like you are doing a good job with them. I think you can begin to tell if you did a good job raising them when they are young. We cannot always tell exactly how the adult years will affect someone. Adults go through alot of changes in life and no matter how well we raise them, they usually turn out the way the lead themselves even though they know their parents did not raise them like that.

| 7. lovespecialangel (2530) | 5 months ago |  I don't think you know fully that you did a good job until they are fully grown. But it does help when your oldest tells you that you are doing a good job. My oldest daughter tells me constantly that I am doing a good job at raising them. You just have to do the best you can and let them know you are there for them and that you love them. It's all we can really do.
