MORE PROOF : Anthropogenic GLOBAL WARMING is real !  

The amount of time by which mankind could delay or accelerate global warming would best be measured in minutes, maybe even seconds or nanoseconds. We are that insignificant compared to the influence of the sun overall as the furnance which heats the earth.

All man can do is very slightly affect the R value of the insulation (atmosphere) that retains the heat of the earth. Given that insulation (atmosphere) is not homogenous in nature and that weather constantly alters, moves, stirs, and percolates that insulation (atmosphere), any measurement or alteration of that R value is only minimally effective at best.

Changes in the sun's output and alterations in the earth's orbit that takes it either nearer or further from the sun are the only things that really affect the temperture of the earth in a meaningful way. Honest scientists have been saying this for probably 100 years. Yes, I now think the scientists advocating man made global warming is real are intellectually dishonest and liars.

Tornadoes! I live 8 miles from a town that got hit. I live 15 miles from a town that was destroyed. There is a small amount of debris such as housing insulation, roofing tiles, and office files here and there on my property. Given the nearest destroyed house is 8 miles away I found this surprising. Apparently, tornadoes can blow wreckage a long ways away.

I wouldn't call our effect insignificant, but I don't believe it's ANYWHERE close to what the environmental activist would like us to believe. Like in many debates with two oposing sides the truth probably lies somewhere in between. Of course for the activist to get any attention they have to greatly exagerate anything.
I say we should take "reasonable" steps to minimize our effect on the climate. If it buys the earth another 5 years the people living during those 5 years would greatly appreciate it. We don't however need to go nuts about it.

The weather really is getting weirder, isn't it? This winter, it was the first time I heard about a snowstorm in California! It was also the first time I heard about tornadoes occurring during winter!

I think my region needs to update our calendar to just 3 seasons Spring, Fall & Drought. We don't really have a winter any longer.

In the exact words of the UN IPCC report, "Mankind has a 'discernable' effect...". The word 'discernable' only means detectable. In this case 'detectable' is possible because of precision measuring satellite based instruments. Without the ability to measure temperture with an accuracy unheard of 1/2 century ago, there would be no 'discernable' man made effect on global tempertures. Man's effect on global temperture is so small that the old fashioned methods would not even be able to measure it.

Actually plant food is called fertalizer. If there aren't enough plants due to deforestation then we'll be up to our necks in "fertalizer".

Your right though , most of those greenies are fanatics & end up causing more harm than good.

Actually plants take in CO2 and release O2 in a process called photosynthesis... in other words they live one carbon dioxide and release oxygen which is exactly opposite from animals and humans.

Just as we breathe oxygen, plants breathe carbon dioxide... so there is no way it can be called a pollutant, or even a greenhouse gas... because it is necessary for our mutual survival... it feeds the plants which in turn feed us.

The problem lies in the fact that there has to be balance. If we're producing more of it then the plants transform back it builds up. Eventually that build up becomes toxic to us.

Ever heard of the expression "too much of a good thing"

Too much of anything can be bad... but herein lies the rub... no one knows enough about the environment to even hazard a guess, although several fools are trying that very thing.

The environment balances itself, and man does not have the influence or ABILITY to effect Climate Change.

For the very few scientists that still support that ill-advised IPCC "consensus" that man COULD BE responsible for Global Warming... there are several hundred that say they are full of sh!t.

Here is something else to think of as well... recent reports indicate that the climate has actually been cooling since 1998, so that would further demonstrate that the whole Global Warming thing was nothing more than a hoax by a bunch of alarmists who are seeking increased research funding.

The bad thing is that our idiot lawmakers are running with this agenda to pass a bunch of laws and raise a bunch of taxes based on this hoax.

Man is not capable of weather control or climate change, nor can we control Global Warming or Global Cooling or anything else of that nature.

What we can do is wreck our economy trying to change something that we have no control over to begin with.

I'm aware of classified attempts by the Defense Department to control weather during the Vietnam War. They would try to get the monsoons to start and end so as to hamper the enemy. How successful were the attempts, I don't know. It's classified.

I'm quite sure that what ever was learned then has been expanded upon.

Surely, the weather can not be precisely controlled, but there has been a lot of money spent trying to influence it.

I remember when they tried to "seed the clouds" to break up the hurricanes before they reached land. It did not work.

I also know that a lot of people really believe that. when the rockets go up it tears holes in the atmosphere and lets out some of the air and effects our weather that way. These are even people that work at the Space Center mind you.

You are right that in the final analysis, no one knows.

I grew up in southwest Michigan, Kalamzoo. So, I know its cold where you are.

Well, I might be over this global warming garbage now, but I definitely was not earlier in the day. I got sucked into one more thread as someone said people were stupid who did not think there was 'man made' global warming. I utterly failed to get the man to understand there are plenty of intelligent reasons to not buy the man made global warming arguement. I give up.
