Zednik, Did you see it?

I remember 19 years ago watching Malarchuck in goal, anothe former Capitol, getting his throat cut by a skate. There was nothing intentional as in this case, but both were major mind blowers. I think Zednick's cut was more death defying, but blood is blood and a throat cut is a throat cut. I didn't see Malarchuk's face. I'll never forget Zednick's face. It was the expression of a man who was afraid to die. Did you see it? Tell me your thoughts.

I only saw clip of it on ESPN News. Zednik played for The Caps for a few years. He got traded but I never stopped rooting for. But this season I haven't been watching or following that much hockey so I didn't even know that he wasn't playing for The Canadiens anymore.I was shocked the moment I heard the news and the relieved that he was in stable condition.Knowing him, he will be back on the ice as soon as he can.

I always liked Zednik also. I spend a great amount of time following ex caps to see how they are doing. I've been a caps fan since the beginning of the franchise. I'm also glad that he is OK. Thank God he was able to keep his wits about him and get off the ice.

Zed is a good people. I didn't know you were a Caps fan.So am I.I started watching hockey 10 years ago. I am here in Northern Virginia so the Caps is my home team.I also fell for The Red Wings . So what happens my first full season of watching hockey?Red Wings-Caps Stanley Cup Final. It was great. Since I am a Caps fan and they Love to trade away great talent, I try to keep track of all the ex Caps too.

why do the NHL not wear neck guards? in the province of quebec (canada) it is manditory that every junior hockey player wear one. i saw on the local sports channel here yesterday that the one guy (from the nhl) that they talked to 'didn't want to look funny' because he was wearing one and his team mates were not...sheesh, what a stupid reason!

please keep in mind most of these junior players where made to wear certain protective equipment entire playing career. where as NHLers just have seen helments become manditory in last 30 years or so. the full face cage and neck guard that todays juniors and younger wear wasnt thougth about and would create a big distraction (so they claim). think back 10 years ago and how often u saw the visor as compared to today. maybe every player will have to wear one in next 15 to 20 years.

Didn't hear about it til my s/o sent me a link in an email this morning, then I watched it on YouTube. Also in the report, after the surgery the first thing he asked the doctor, was when could he start playing again! He was told, next season.

we subscribe to our cable companies cable package so we get every hockey game that is on each night. It was a very scary thing to watch. There was so much blood everywhere. It was just unbelievable. I did see on the news tonight though that he is in stable condition after surgery. Thank goodness he will life and will heal and be normal again. Doctors say he will be able to resume normal activities in about 8 - 12 weeks although i do not see him playing hockey again right away. It's very sad what happens but at least he will live to tell the story.

It was creepy. I think the worst part was the look on the man's face as he threw his hand to his neck.
