So they wanted to nest and now that they have a nesting box, have stopped |

What is up with that? Those darn birds have been mating and the female has been sort of building nests. Now that we give them a nesting box with actual nesting materials, they have not done a darn thing. Figures. LOL

2. dumblnddzzy (10262) | 2 years ago | They are obviously very independent birds, & don't need or want your help. Maybe some other birds will use the nesting materials.....Lori

3. havfaith (148) | 2 years ago | The mating season is over. I still have my nesting box on my bird cage sometimes they will go in and make a nest but don't do anything. You might want to take out the nesting materials and let them make their own and see what happens.

sedel1027 (12398) | 2 years ago | They only reproduce when the female says it is okay. She can mate all she wants but until she decides she wants babies, there won't be any.
That is awful about your bird. There are a lot of telltale signs to show that they are pregnant. The shape of their bodies change, the size of their poop changes, and how much they eat changes as well.
Sounds like she became eggbound, which means she couldn't get the eggs out. They only produce 1 egg at a time, then the next one develops after the first egg is laid. The eggs are no going to break inside the bird.
Lovebirds can have quite a few eggs, the average size clutch is 4-6. I am hoping we don't end up w/12 eggs!

Lovebirds sells at a price here, how bout there? Do you have plans of selling them?

sedel1027 (12398) | 1 year ago | Depends on the type of love birds. The kind we have go from $55-$150. We are going to sell our two (we have 3 more on the way) and asking $100 because they have been DNA sexed.

| 6. oxtihama (75) | 9 months ago | You must be patient enough to wait when they like to nest. These birds are sometimes like humans also. They take some time to adjust and be familiar with their own "house". However if they don't give any result with the nesting box that is prepared for them, try to provide another form of nest. I don't know if you try to make nest out of a coconut. Just take out the shell, clean the inside especially the root-like elements that come out when you take the coconut shell. After cleaning, join it together by clamping it with a small wire, and make a small hole at the side enough for the bird to pass through. Then, hang the nest in one of the corners of the cage...
