well how do you think they pay us

My point is where is the upgrade if thats all they did was add advertisers. I perosnally don't think it should be made to be a big deal. Okay they added addvertisers I noticed it imediatly because the new add was flashing in my fase another thing I don't like. I am not here for the money I am here for the disucssions. A penny here and there is NOT going to help me finanically. And they changed the home page to show you what your friends are doing. Some thing else that I don't like. This is an opinion ya know?

ebsharer, they also added the "activity sortie". So it does count as an "upgrade".

In the alert we received it said "upgrade" not adding "activity sorie"

ebsharer, so adding new functionality is not upgrading? I don't see your logic. If that is the case, adding new parts to your computer is not upgrading it, or adding new features to an old car is not upgrading it.

I don't like this new "update" either. Seems like they never fix what's really wrong just keep messing up the few things that actually do work right.

well how about stop assuming everything is about you.. the comment wasn't even toward you, given I hadn't even read what you had said. I was talking to the OP of this response... and my comment was geared toward the rest of the resonders who got an answer and how this one was skipped.

I don't mind the sortie, hate the ads right in the message. It's very distracting. I hate it!

Instead I'm glad if they put new ads: it means more money for us.
By the way I can't see the adds O__o maybe it's the antivirus.

Tomservo - My logic is that in my opinion this is a down grade. We now have distracting ads after each of our responses and flashing ads at the top of pages.

ebsharer bite your tongue. Yes, the ads suck but at least they aren't the banners they were for a short period of time. Now those were really something to complain about and thankfully our complaints worked.

Razcal - I never seen ads as banners the way you speak of. I don't like the flashing at the top and I really don't like the ads at the end of the response.

over christmas a different site had the ads that auto play audio and video and so you where assualted every time u went to a new page
very annoying esp if u where listening to music or something at the time so didnt have it muted

ebsharer, you haven't been here long enough but count yourself as one of the lucky ones not to have to suffer through it. Yes the ads after each post are annoying and headache inducing but I am so glad that it is what it is and what mylot tried and failed it. You think the banner at the top is annoying... picture that after each post. Ugh it was horrible.

wow i think that would have drove me off the site... wait maybe that was what keep me away after somebody first had me sign up last year.

this page is for earn money in your rules said this if you not like earn money you are free but all thinkg taht mylot make is around taht the most of user can earn money . On internet have a lot of sites that the people can aswer and respond as yahoo but the big diferent with mylot is that mylot pay for this

Hmm must be me but I don't see any of the ads. Well I guess its not a bad thing they have added ads because they have to pay us somehow.

I don't understand why you all don't get what I am trying to say its not a hard concept. Obvously we get paid because of ads. Thats fine I just don't like the new FLASHING or MOVING ads! This site is NOT going to help me financially. Thats not why I am here and if you read Crashs Q&A's you will see he says if you are here to make a lot of money you will be dissapointed. It is nice to see 20 cents here and 40 cents there but $10.00 a month isn't doing much for me maybe it is you. Good luck in your discussions and hope that you can understand that ads do pay but they don't need to flash to pay.

Well adding friends on mylot without referrals also adds their 25% earnings to us....

ebsharer, I totally understand where you are coming from. I just remember the flashing banners being on more then just the top of the page. As for everyone biting your head off, don't waste your time.

Also what are the stupid adds under our responses? The first one under mine was a Jewish add. How did it know I was Jewish?

As far as I know, the comment box works the same. The only difference is now when you've commented on, let's say, page 3, it takes you back to your actual comment on that page instead of taking you to the first page of the discussion.

I'd love for you to tell me that I've completely missed the mark here, and that MyLot hasn't endeavored to raise its earnings through the use of tracking software, for targeted marketing.

We have used interests to target ads for over a year now, so there have been no changes in that regard. We've simply implemented some new banner advertisers and some new ad layouts.

How do you know our nationalities? That is creepy! Do you know mine?

But Activity Sortie should be optional, even our avatar/picture appears twice to us,when we look at our profile.

You framed others profile in our page,when we visit anybody else.

I agree with eskarena1, I appreciate knowing what mylot is going to do before they do it... the company I work for doesn't even do that!

barbaraprez... yeah everyone that could ask 1 question in a 48 hour period.. made for a lot to read but was worth it. gave a lot of insight that other users felt same as you and got quality feedback through crash about what mylot was doing/about.

barbaraprez - Yes but it was all the same questions over and over again even though Crash asked us not to repete the questions.

eb.. It could be because he never answered the question properly the first time it was asked so someone had to ask again to actually try and get a real answer and not just some bs that he thought would shut people up. Kind of like now when folks have real issues instead of addressing them we're fed this line of bs like everything is perfect and expected to be ok with it.

Why are you so worked up about this? This is just a site in the internet. It's not our entire life.

I agree that a lot of the answers were not answered properaly a lot of them were answered in a round about way. But it was horriable to go through page after page of how do I calculated my payment? When are we going to get paid more? Why did so and so get banded? How do I increase my earnings?

eb.. do you know why that is what everyone cared about.. because thats all anyone is here for.. to make some change. If this site stopped paying people to use it, more than half the users would leave. Crash and the PTB would love for you to think otherwise but the truth is without the little bit of change they pay out.. this site would fall flat on its a$$. Those "numbers" at the bottom of your screen telling you how many people joined the site.. thats just it.. they joined.. that don't mean they use it anymore. Everyone thats left, been banned or just cancelled their accounts are still a part of that number. Don't believe me.. see for yourself. A yr ago I cancelled an account cause I was tired of this site. Its still on there as being a users. Same with a friend of mine who I refered who never even came back after his frist day. And my cousin... who was the one who refered me. She left just a week after I first joined. So tell me.. how honest do you really think Crash and his little workers are?

Obviously some people got to know about the Q&As but I wasn't aware of it and I can't be the only one. The next time you do this how am I going to know?

This feature absolutely isn't spyware. If you don't want to show up in someone's activity sortie, then you can simply remove them as friends.

Our goal isn't to make it harder to keep in touch with your friends. Our goal is to make it easier, which the activity sortie will help accomplish.

I tried everything Lady. Not only can you not turn it off or get rid of it, you cannot move it to the bottom of the page. It is there in all its infamous glory for all to see. It seems that I will be followed around by semetic adds too. I find that interesting. It knows your race and nationality. Seems a bit racist to me. Maybe that is where my s--- went.

So, the only people who can view our activity are our listed friends?

And, if I wanted to see what threads a friend of mine has responded to today, instead of clicking on their member page, and clicking their "Discussions I Have Responded To" link, I can instead monitor their daily activity log?

And, if I don't want to advertise my activity, then I must remove all people from my friends list?

Wow I hadn't even thought of that. So long friends it was nice knowing all of you!!!

100% of this information is available anyway. We've simply done a better job of organizing it.

Non-friends are definitely privy to your discussions, interests, etc. anyway.

Friendships control what activities appear on your home page activity log.

We'll definitely listen to all of the feedback though, good and bad, and make adjustments if we feel it is necessary, yet still consistent with the goals we're trying to accomplish.

What goal does the new activity log fulfil?

Crash, it's nice that you want to make things more consolidated, but how about those of us who DO NOT WANT to have that displayed RIGHT THERE in the middle of our profiles? I had my profile set up the way I wanted it. I CHOSE to hide my friends, and my interests. That information may be available publicly anyway, but why should we HAVE to have it on our profiles if we don't want it?

Please be considerate of our feelings and give us a way to remove or hide those features if we wish to do so. It's fine to have them available as optional sorties, but not as required components. It IS spyware, simply because we can't get rid of it. You've gone way too far with this update.

I wonder if your concept of 'Friends', Crash, is necessarily everybody's concept. In the Friends list it is possible to opt in or out of emails advising of people's activity. It would be a good idea to have some selectivity in this module as well.

There are many people on my Friends list who are there simply because they invited themselves and I saw no good reason to deny them. There are others whom I wished to PM at some point but whose discussions, on the whole, don't interest me. I don't really want to have to delete friends in order for them not to show on this activity list. It would, perhaps, be a good idea to modify the Friends list by adding a button against each name so that one can select who shows in this list.

I am asking this only out of ignorance and learning...pls don't blast me, just explain....the spyware issue...as I am understanding (this cusor blinking constantly is making me see blurry!) it, while on MyLot your activity is tracked in your profile page - shows where you've been all day on MyLot - is that correct? So someone just goes to your profile and can see what you have done on MyLot? IF so, I ask...so what? Again, just trying to learn and understand this. I am thinking.... I dont' care if someone reads what I have posted or commented on or what interestes I have or followed me around while on MyLot . Personally I don't know why anyone would want to follow another person around - go see what you want to see for yourself. Maybe I just dont' understand the concept! If they see I where I have been and go comment on something I posted, that earns me a few pennies. As long as it stays on MyLot, I guess, at this point, I don't care... I'm just a person chatting.

BUT...is it just folliowing around on MyLot - can they access me once I leave MyLot? Does the sypware for following on MyLot effect me on other sites or places I go?

Coffeebreak, I think the 'spyware' referred to is to do with adverts (which set cookies) rather than Mylot activity. Some people feel that cookies set by adverts are 'spyware'. In fact that is a misnomer. They can track and remember your activity on a particular site but they are only really of any use to the site that set the cookie. Cookies are passive. They sit there until the site that set them is visited again and usually all they do is remember what you were last doing on that site. Amazon, for example, uses cookies to show you what you last looked at.

Properly, spyware means a small program or application which is installed on your computer, usually without your knowledge, which can actively send information it finds on your PC back to its originators. Some of those can be malicious and dangerous and there are a number of tools available (some free and some not too expensive) which can find them and also guard against them.

The activity sortie can be removed from your profile. I removed mine. You just remove it the same way you would any other sortie or you can just move it around your page if you would like to keep it but put it in a better place.

Guess what My, you cannot fix your profile page. All the space is taken up by the imobile new force!

I'm not an idiot, I know how we're paid. It doesn't mean I have to like the placement of the ads. I'm not adverse to change, I just don't like the ad right in your discussion. Put a separate box, not something that is so easily clicked on unintentionally.

I'm glad for the ads too if it means more payment (but there's a possibility they'll pay us the same and gain more for them:D)
