It kind of came to mind today.
When I read a magazine I usually skip the ads. It actually is as if they're not there most of the time. But today I had some time to .. well waste LOL So I looked at one, then another .... nothing new of course, but it got me thinking and the title of this discussion was the first thing popping to mind.
Sure it has deeper or more specif meanings. Ads are not necessarily selling stolen goods or anything like that, but buyer beware was pretty much on my mind.
By now, people should be able to see through the fog, but apparently it's not always so.
Here's some examples of what i saw:
- If you use our product your hair will look healthier in just a few days! - spot the key word?
- Our company has been in business since 1936.
- listed as one of the best products in the market today.
- Our best experts improved this formula just for you.
- Proved the most efficient in all our tests.
- Can compare to any other product of its kind even the more expensive ones.
And on... and on....
THey sure can protect themselves.
It's easy to make my hair LOOK healthier, thankfully they don't claim it will BE healthier, because that's a bit more complicated :)
I know that company in business since 1936. It started as a plumber business. Apparently it didn't work and a few years later was a carpenter business, later on it sold air conditioners, now they clean carpets. But hey it's the same company LOL
I know about the listing, the product was rated 3956. But yeah, it was listed hehehehe
Meanwhile their best experts improved whatever formula. Now how good are their best experts? They didn't say THE BEST experts, just their best :)
THey did prove more efficient in all their tests? But what tests did they do? Are those all the tests that can be done? :P
ANd yes, it sure can be compared with other similar products. Here's the result: IT sucks LOL THey didn't say it was better, just that it could be compared heheheheh
Have you spotted many of those little things used in advertisements lately? Care to share ?
