Interview with Barach Obama |
| |
| US Magazine spent a day with Senator Obama and the Title of the article about the interview was "Barack Obama Refuses 'Boxers or Briefs' Question". With all the Issues facing this country is it important that we know if Senator Obama wears Boxers or Brief? It is disturbing that he is being treated like a pop star and people are not concern about his policies, accomplishments, and his agenda seem far more important. Many people were concerned when we elected a former movie star to the presidency and now they treat Senator Obama as a pop star. We need experienced people elected and not just some one who can give a good speach. | | | | | |

| | well first of all you spelled his name wrong in the title! haha. but besides that...yeah I guess it is kind of lame that he is being treated like a celebrity instead of a politician. but maybe the reason he avoided the questions is simply because he doesn't wear any underwear. | | | | | | |

| | It is my hope that people will look at the issues and support the person who supports their views and beliefs. | | | |

| | If it's the US magazine I'm thinking of, anything more serious than "Boxers or briefs?" would be a huge surprise. The magazine is the print equivalent of a talk show, rather than a serious news outlet. | | | | | | |

| | It is that magazine and he gave them a day talk with him and follow him around. Maybe he is trying to cultivate the pop star to avoid answering tough questions. | | | |

| | Exactly; it's the equivalent of someone going on SNL, Ellen, Oprah, Leno or any of the shows which all of the candidates from both parties have been dying to get on. The "Boxers or Briefs" is a take on the question Bill Clinton was asked on MTV in 1992. Annie | | | |

| | Don't forget in 2000 and 2004 many people voted for the candidate who not only couldn't give a good speech but could barely speak English at all because he was the one they'd "rather have a beer with". I thought back then that was ridiculous considering all the issues facing the country, particularly in 2004. You didn't say if you actually had read the article but if the title is "Barack Obama Refuses Boxers or Briefs Question" I don't see what your problem is with him. Who knows, maybe Obama would even be fun to have a beer with! Annie | | | | | | |

| | The article that was posted contained a few questions about his daughters and then the Boxer/Briefs question. My problem is more with the reporter and the failure to ask questions of substance. Such as ones dealing with policy and what he plans to do as president. I can understand Senator Obama and not wanting to spend the day with some reporter who might pin me down to specifics. When his supporters are interviewed they can not tell you anything about his achievements, or his programs or what he stands for except Hope and Change. When he has commented on a world situation you get something like if Packastan can not control the Taliban then he would bomb them. When asked about Iran he said he would sit down and talk to them with no conditions. Since that occured he has avoided taking a position on any topic except to talk about Hope and Change. I want to know what the man is about and what he stands for. He tells us that he is not a liberal despite of his voting record. He stresses that he never voted for the war and people forget that he was not in the senate at the time and as Senator Clinton has pointed out many of his votes are paired - he voted on a bill but we do not know which way. We need more information on the man and not pop star questions. | | | |

| | That magazine's target readers aren't interested in anything too "deep" but if reading an article about Obama or any other candidate gets even a few new people interested in the issues that's a good thing. There is lots of information available online and elsewhere about what Obama's plans are if elected. He may not have authored a large number of bills in the Senate but he hasn't been there that long. Also, he wasn't in the Senate when the vote was taken to invade Iraq but he spoke publicly about it many times well before running for President. Sometimes it's impossible to win with some people - you're damned if you have a long Senate career and record and damned if you don't! Annie | | | |

| | So, are we going to have a situation sometime in the near future where the pundits and talking heads will be analysing on whether boxers, briefs or no underwear will have better chances of making it to the White House? It really it's quite sad that this is what we are going through. Personally, I don't blame either the senator or the journalist for writing this article. Obhama is doing what Bill Clinton did in 1992 - he's soaring up his appeal to the young. If talking about underwear is the way to do it, he'll do it. As for the journalist, this is merely a regular excersie in appealing to the readers. However, it's really sad to see how we, as a media consuming audience are so obsessed with all the trivial things about candidates instead of questioning them about the things they will do if we put them into power. | | | |
