Looking Forward To School Prom

My eldest Granddaughter is leaving school this year, in July, and so has quite excitedly, started planning for her School Prom. The prom can be one of the most important events of one's school experience - a special night to look forward to and fantasise about for months beforehand.
So, with all this in mind, she decided she wanted to get her Prom Dress and Shoes early, so nagged my Daughter-In-Law into going to the shops with her. In fact, her mum quite enjoyed the experience and Sarah chose a short skirted dress which she can wear after. Sensible girl, considering the cost! She got the dress and shoes safely home and was itching for me to see them, so, I had to inspect her chosen attire. lol. Her Mum was as eager for me to see it as Sarah was!:)
Anyway, she didn't put it on... I suppose something to do with bad luck, like the wedding dress suspicion. But she brought it down, covered and took the covering bag off in front of me... slowly. lol. It was a short dress, with straps and quite low cut, to about bra level, with a short, slightly gathered skirt. The material underneath was like a cream silk, and this had a mid-grey coloured chiffon layer over top of it. It's a really nice, conservative type of dress, smart, but delicate at the same time. Her shoes are cream, to match the silk fabric underneath, with quite a high heel, probably about three inches. (She's quite short). They were fabric uppers with an open toe and closed back. Altogether a good choice, but seemingly quite grown up. Then on the other hand, I suppose if she's leaving school she is pretty grown up.
She'll be going on to college and maybe even university after that, depending on her educational needs for her desired career. I've asked for photos to be taken on the day, as I think they'll be a good keepsake to mark her coming into adulthood. :)

Yes, I'll get some pics and I really must remember my camera this week, to take pics of the dog.
It's good that your brother looks out for you and makes sure you get what's rightfully yours. He'll make sure you get your outfit back too, no doubt. Brightest Blessings.

Oh, I'm sure she'll enjoy it. She's an entertainer.. used to go to drama school, like the other one does now, and she likes to be the centre of attention. lol.
The dress is lovely.. the grey is a warm sort of grey, almost a dusky purple, but not a cold, slate colour. Your outfit sounds nice, and no, I can't get into any of mine, either. I was a skinny rake when I left school. lol. I hope you find it again.
Brightest Blessings. xxx

I think it's quite a recent thing to have a school prom. I didn't have one when I was at school either, but I would imagine they enjoy it, as they get to wear "grown-up" clothes to school at last. A lot of things have changed since I was a schoolgirl. lol. We weren't allowed to wear make-up, like they are now, or jewellery, and we certainly weren't allowed to wear shoulder-length hair, or longer, down. We had to tie it up whilst we were in school. My Mum used to plait my hair! lol.
I'll persuade her to have some photos taken.. she doesn't mind, but she won't put her dress on especially for that purpose. Make you laugh, don't they? ha ha ha
Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. xxxx

I'll have to check my pics out. I thought you sent me one of an 18th birthday party.
Her dress sounds really nice... is she going to use it again though? Sarah chose short because she could wear it again, for parties and such. She was being quite practical really and saving money, which is unusual for kids her age. Still, I suppose she had to show off her high heels. lol. I don't know how she can walk in them!
Brightest Blessings. xxxx

Our daughters are also preparing for the prom. One has a date and the other does not which is not a big deal in our small town. It is an exciting time in a young lady's life.

Oh, how lovely. Yes, it is an exciting time in their lives, and they pay a lot of attention to what they will be wearing for the Prom. I don't think a date's a big deal anywhere, these days, but my Granddaughter is going with her boyfriend, so problem solved. lol.
Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution.

LOL! it is good for her, a short dress for short girls, that will make her a bit taller than she is, and wearing a highhills shoes is nice too, she really knows what is good for her, shes so bright same as you LOL. Don't worry about her going to college she can manage it well.

Awwwwww, shucks!
The flattery is getting to me!
The heels must be at least three inches high... almost as long as her legs!
Oh, she'll be fine at college.. it's not far from home, but she intends to go to university afterwards and goodness knows where that will be. She's sort of made up her mind what qualifications she needs but is torn between a career as an architect, or a beautician. Both are artistic, I guess!
Brightest Blessings and thank you for your input.

Darkwing, your granddaughter must look really really lovely on that dress, but I kind of felt it's a bit weird though that she didn't try to put it on to try it... cause that kind of only happens at wedding I think. Well... I am kind of thinking what if during the prom it happens to not fit or too loose for her? Haha...

Oh, she tried it on before buying it, and it really will suit her as she has red hair, with golden strands in it. I can't guarantee that it'll fit her if she loses or gains weight, but that's up to her, I guess. She'll have to keep her weight steady for the next four months. lol.
It just struck me, when I saw the dress and shoes, how grown up she really is now. :)

She's a pretty young thing, and I don't think I'll find it hard to see her dress up in womanly fashion. She is quite a sensible girl, and knows she's stepping out into the great big, wide world, and what is required of her. I think I'll feel more proud, than anything. :)
Brightest Blessings.

Yes, the dress is very pretty. Kind of floaty, and the grey is a warm grey, almost tending to be a dusky purple. It's really nice... she made a good choice, because it will go really well with her red hair. She has red hair with natural golden blonde streaks in it.
Yes, the years have gone by very quickly. My Grandson would have been 19 this coming September. Thank you for yet another compliment, my friend. You won't believe this but I had to kind of rib her about her Goth way of dress a couple of years ago! I couldn't believe it... paganism must be to the fore in our family. ha ha ha. She's out of it now, anyway, and more into pinks and black. lol
Brightest Blessings. xx
