Can any 1 tell me the Best software to compress .vob (4.5gb) films into 700mb  |

|  HI,i LOVE movies....n i collect lots of movies from friend and relatives..i have just 250gb hard disk(very very small space to store more films)..most of the films i have are .vob files i.e DVD format(approx 4.5gb)...so maximum i can store upto 30 films..but i heard that this type of files can be converted into other formats like avi,xvid,rm..all this formats r the compressed form of the original retaining the same video and audio quality...so guys do u know the best software to compress 4.5gb to 700mb so that i can store more films...please help friends!!!!!!...waiting for ur reply

| |  Well i always do compress my DVD9 to 1CD or 2CD rips. And the best way to do that is using a Video compressor Codec like XVID,X264 and to do that you should download some Softwares. Like if you like to convert it to x264 or xvid then you should probably download MEGUI software which is a freeware, which means you needn't to buy this software. Although you need to update some of the files through internet and also one important thing is that you must have Dot NET Framework 2.0 installed on your computer to use this software. And one more thing my dear friend that is, its a very lengthy process, and it will consume your whole computer power and process and will take a normal 2 hours DVD compression takes around 7-8 hours on a DUAL CORE processor. You can grab these softwares and more tools through forums.doom9.org

i found this software which is best to convert any dvd(vob) format to avi(xvid or divx)....its good try this one if you want to convert any movie....u will like it..here u can specify the target size to 1cd(700 Mb)....2cd(1400)...so on as you wish ...also the audio format...AC3(2ch,4ch,5ch,..so on).......here you can download the software its known as"Auto gk"

| |  you can do compression of the movies by many softwares availalbe all over the internet...
the one i use is called total video converter...
use divx/xvid format for effective compression at good qualtiy....use rm/rmvb if lower size matters more..

| | i tried the software using default settings(xvid format)...it compressed the 3.9GB movie to 1.5GB...(the quality is good).But i want to compress it to 700mb..can u please specify the exact figure for the followings

| |  There are numerous programs available for this type of task. If you have Nero burning ROM then you will find that the option exists in that software.
Personally, I use Majic DVD Ripper, which does an excellent job and offers quite a good selection of features.
