What's Up With Helium Ratings Stars?!  |

 With a high dollar payout looming on the horizon, Helium seems to be doing to the ratings what they may have done to the writing. About 8 months ago, the earnings for many on Helium fell off to a crawl and never recovered. Mine dropped by about 80%. I continued to promote my work, but the earnings never responded. I could only guess that Helium changed the amount paid out per view. Several complaints appeared on their community forums, but they eventually died out as members either gave up or left.
Now, it is all but impossible to maintain a 3 star rating level. It's interesting that this is the same number needed for a payout. They are saying that the writers will be dividing up about $120,000, but I fear that much of this will not be received because too few ratings stars will be on writers' accounts for them to qualify.
It would be interesting to check and see if the 5 star writers are having the most problem maintaining their ratings stars since they will get the most per article in the payout and are the most likely to generate the most articles.

I have stayed at 5 rating stars for a week now, so just hoping I can stay at above three until April

| 2. serenidity (496) | 8 months ago | You have to have one writing star and three rating stars, minimum, to qualify for the pay out. I have the 3 rating stars and have been able to maintain them so far but one single star for writing eludes me, in fact the more i write, the farther away i feel i am going from the writing star! I leapfrogged a couple of old ones and have been successful in getting the ratings up but frankly I don't think they want it to be so easy to get the money, I have no hope of seeing a writing star by the end of this month. | |

| mainman195 (99) | 8 months ago | You will probably have problems if you have two issues with your writing. You need to reach about 100 articles that way they can kick out 10 from the star ratings. This will help you have a better quality rating. Next, you need to just work on writing the best you can before you publish the first time.
Unless your article has a lot of problems, leapfrogging doesn't usually get you much help in the long run. It takes several weeks before your ratings put the articles in a about the right spot. If the topics have 20 or more articles, you can't get in a hurry to try to improve it. You may just need patience. | |

I have 1 writing star and 3 rating stars, but I had the same 2 weeks ago, then just 1 star for both for over a week in between and now the rating star has gone up again! I don't understand it and am not really convinced about the site at all. Earnings are painfully slow there, I'm not even convinced I'll get a penny in April or whenever they're doing the payout because their payment algorithm is so hazy!

| mainman195 (99) | 8 months ago | You will actually only make money by winning in the contests or by writing enough to get the $'s per article on April 15. Otherwise, you will average about half a penny per day on your articles that are rated up in their categories. If you promote your articles, you can increase that to 10 cents per day up to about $1 or more per day per article. The key is to just keep writing articles. You can also submit them to other sites and make some money there too. | |

I had several articles there that were earning decent money, and then they drop to mere pennies a month. It did not help that the articles were bounced to four different channels before they were settled in. And I would never think to look for them where they ended up finally.
When I saw this current bonus program, I decided not to hold my breath. Being a full time college student, I never do well in the contests due to the lack of time. And this bonus being tied to the stars, I didnt have much hope--my writing star had been flickering off and on long before the promotion began.
A lot of people have been complaining on the Helium Community Forum about their rating stars disappearing. Ironically, I have been having no trouble maintaining my rating stars--but then again, I have no writing stars left (figures, doesn't it?).
