I almost forgot about Goonies. That was a good movie too.

The Goonies is a great one...action, adventure, comedy, even romance

I like The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles best. I still catch those movies when they cone on. I watched The Breakfast Club on television just last week. I think just about every movie Molly Ringwald has ever done has been pretty good though.

myLot reputation of 99/100. brimia (6180)   ranked 150 out of 10,796 in watching movies  4 years ago

Molly was definitely queen of the 80s movies (not to mention TV)...she was adorable on The Facts of Life until her movie career started to take off.

Say Anything is my top choice, with Better Off Dead and The Breakfast Club being close contenders.

"Superbad", "Say Anything", "The Breakfast Club", "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Mystic Pizza" all come to mind. All except one of those are from the 80s. I guess they just don't make teen movies like they used to. I sure wish John Hughes would start making movies again. Nobody did a teen movie like he did.

myLot reputation of 99/100. brimia (6180)   ranked 150 out of 10,796 in watching movies  4 years ago

John Hughes did seem to have the golden touch.
I totally forgot about Superbad! That movie had me laughing so hard I was crying.

myLot reputation of 83/100. bochco123 (426)   ranked 227 out of 10,796 in watching movies  4 years ago

Yeah Hughes was great and so was "Superbad".

Oh I absolutely love Pretty in Pink and also the Breakfast Club. The 80's put out some great movies. It seems like nowadays it hit or miss with movies that come out. You have 8 out of 10 movies that come out that suck. There are still good ones that come out now... but it seems like standards and quality plot has gone to pot... lol

myLot reputation of 99/100. brimia (6180)   ranked 150 out of 10,796 in watching movies  4 years ago

I agree. Almost everything lately is either a sequel or spoof of something like a bad TV show...rarely anything original or quality.

I loved the movies of the 80's. One Crazy Summer, Better Off Dead, 3:00 High, and of course Sixteen Candles! Loved that movie.

myLot reputation of 99/100. ElusiveButterfly (9602)   ranked 1,577 out of 10,796 in watching movies  4 years ago

Ferris Bueller was my hero!

myLot reputation of 99/100. brimia (6180)   ranked 150 out of 10,796 in watching movies  4 years ago

Ferris was great. I just googled One Crazy Summer because the title sounded familiar. I love John Cusack but I don't think I've ever seen it...I'll have to check it out.

trying to think back -

I am not sure if it was the 80s or 70s but I liked FAME as well the television series.

I liked Risky Business (not sure it would appeal to me today)

and I liked Grease (which was in the 70s )

myLot reputation of 99/100. brimia (6180)   ranked 150 out of 10,796 in watching movies  4 years ago

I haven't thought about Fame in years...it was a great movie and TV show.

myLot reputation of 94/100. dfn12968 (5532)  4 years ago

Oh, Fame was a great movie! I think it was very early 80s. I also loved the tv show.

I hate to admit this, but I also liked Great 2.

Definitely all favorites! Of the ones you mentioned, definitley Some Kind of Wonderful. I had such a crush on Eric Stoltz after that movie.

The ones I will add are The Breakfast Club and St. Elmos Fire. I was a big brat pack fan, as you can see. happy

myLot reputation of 99/100. brimia (6180)   ranked 150 out of 10,796 in watching movies  4 years ago

I had a crush on Eric Stoltz too! I couldn't figure out what he saw in Amanda... :)
