why is this movie always shown at christmas?

Its a horrible film when you have seen it as often as I have.
You are right,its not got anything to do with Jesus being born,thats for sure.
But then again,most of the christmas extravaganza has nothing to do with Jesus anyway

It is usually termed a holiday movie. Over Christmas all the shows are in reruns so the great movies are shown... what they call Holiday Classics. Also, I think because the song "Favourite Things" has been used as a Christmas song.

I can't stand this movie. I didn't like it as a child, and I can't stand it now. I never watch this movie whenever I see that its going to be shown. They don't show it in my area during Christmas though, at least I've never seen it advertised around that time.

I'd rather watch "A Christmas Story." It comes on TBS every year and plays for 24 hrs so there is no reason for me to miss it. I know all the words, but its a must watch for me every year

do they always show this at christmas time? i do not notice that... i know they are always showing that in here during lenten season, like some fillers for the disrupted regular programs because local channels here dont show regular programs if its holy week. so that is where i often see it, actually.

I think that this movie is shown during Christmas because it is the kind of movie that shows how strong a family can be in the middle of a crisis. I think during this season, more family oriented films are being shown.

This is what I call a feel good movie and this is why I think this is shown along with "It's A wonderful Life".

By the way, I think this is a lovelymovie just overplayed.
