I never knew the answer to this. How would you tell the person? What would you say? How will you react? My brother-in-law's grandmother is a very strong old lady she was complaining of a stomac pain and after some investigation they found a very rare parasite inside. Anyway while they were removing it they took some sample to see if there is anything wrong. They found out she has cancer and the way it has spread they told the family that she has days or few weeks to live at the most. They decided not to tell her. She is still capable of everything but once she gives in there is no going back. My neighbour had the same cancer she was all perfect than she went so quick we had no time to react she was gone in 3 days. The doctors belive that if she knows she would get upset and die sooner. It is hard for the family they dont know if they are doing the right thing by not telling her but they dont want to loose her even sooner.

Hello, violeta! It is unwise to say the patient that he/she is going to die soon of cancer.thereby the patient gets perturbed and the last days hastens.so don't inform the patient about the disease at any cost and continue the treatment so long he/she is alive and pretend as if nothing has happened.thank you.

here in australia they have to inform them and I belive its the law that they have to tell them all they know. The case I am talking about is in Europe where they still dont have those laws.

the do this in a way to get the person to fight for his life and to sort his/her life eg. finance, and personal issues like say good bye.

wow, what a question, hm.... i think i'll tell him/her, its good for him/her to prepare and get ready, and to settle all his/her problems before he/she die, so he/she may die peacefully...

but how do you prepare to die? I would totaly freak out and probaly have a heart atack right then and there save everyone the trouble of waiting. I know about the financial part and the last wish thing that is fair enough. but geeeee I have no idea what I would do.
