stars and why are they taken away

I know this is silly but I felt so good when I went from a nine to a ten and now I find today I am back at nine. What did I do wrong? I feel like I was wacked for something and I don't even know what.

Sorry that happened but that is something that most of have experienced and you just have to accept it. I used to be a ten then within a short time is ended up and have stayed at an 8 for about six or eight months.
As your star is supposedly an indication of your reputation by other myLot users it is very hard to rebut or complain. Someone either did not like a response you gave or a discussion you started. You rating is based on your myLot reputation. If you get a lot of negative ratings (-) your numbers go down and up if you get many(+) ratings. One thing to must remember it is based on a percentage so if you have 200 points and you were to drop 5% it would only take 10 negative ratings whereas if you had 2000 points it would take 100 negatives rating so it is easier for you lose and gain with low points. 
As most of us "old timers" think this is a load of crap we do not pay any attention to what color of star anyone has. So just forget it as it may go up again who knows.

Thanks so much that is what I finally figured out so I just will not lose any sleep over it.I think that my discussion on Jehovahs witnesses must have struck someone wrong and I feel really bad about that as it was not Jehovah Witness bashing at all. I commented over and over that I do not make fun of anyone's religion and have respect for all but by the same token I expect the same courtesy in return. that is to be respected for my own relegious views. So I will watch more closely in what I give as topics for discussion and make sure I am understood. I just thought that a discussion was for airing our own personal views and our differences without bashing anyone.

I just need to point out that by giving a best response on a discussion that has only been posted for ONE hour is a sure way to:
Not get many responses as many people will not waste their time if the BR is gone.
Make an enemy who could attack and troll you and further reduce your star rating.. If you had received more than just two responses you could at least have had a decent choice. Many people cannot sit by their computers and just wait for a new discussion to appear. Most myLotter give a minimum of week before choosing . I personally wait one month

Hi you are so right and I really did not think when I did that as I was so depressed at getting so few responses. I am still new at this and I appreciate all the pointers I can get. I will wait as you suggested after this so that perhaps I may garner some more responses.

I don't know what would have caused that to happen, I'm just sorry for your sake that it did. I've never seen any reason to give you a negative rating.

thanks much kbourgerie I think it was the Jehovah
witness discussion I put out.evidently some one got very upset with me and I really did not disrespect their religion at all. I just brought up the idea that I do not like to be forced to listen to someone trying to sell me their particular religion when I have my own. I pointed out that I respect all religions and I expect all people to respect mine also.

and some purposefully (-) by unknown faces.. enjoying the 'trolls'.
But as you rightly said, the discussions on Religion brings more responses, but it also spurs the bad mood of a person, if our line of argument is does not coincide with that of the person.
Hatley, we must note that not all of us, rate the topics when we comment, but people certainly register the protests on most hot topics like that under category of religion.. So, only when minuses are recorded, without.. plus.. it pulls our star down..
But i can understand friend, you are not worried about your star status here.. as you constantly deliver good posts here irrespective of your star color.
