I am sure you have seen and heard the headlines this past week about this topic.
Their excuse for prescription drugs in tap water is that not all of the drugs we consume are absorbed by our bodies and the excess ends up going dowwn the toilet.
Perhaps, it is even simpler than that.
I know I was always taught to go through my pills (prescription and OTC) at least annually and FLUSH out-dated ones down the toilet. I was told this was the PROPER way to dispose of them. Take myself and a lot of other people who were taught this; and yes, that is a lot of medication going into the water supply every year. (That doesn't start to include those indivuals who make a hasty flush when they hear a late night knock at the door either.)
But, how many of us really know what IS in our tap water?
I do get an annual report from our water district which says they test for things and they always come back less than the limit - so everything is fine - right?
Well, I did some checking and found out that everything with my water supply is NOT FINE! They did not tell us they had received EIGHT violations from the feds (one was a repeat violation 7 times in a row - they just didn't elarn from the first time they were cited) or that we had one chemical which EXCEEDED federal standards.
So, how does YOUR tap water compare and what aren't they telling you?
Here is a website that will let you locate you local water supplier and give you the information that they aren't telling you.

So check this out and see what is going on OR if you plan to move - it might be smart to check things like this out BEFORE you move.
Of course, that ASSUMES thay they are actually checking for all possible contaminants - they can't find something they don't even look for - can they?
