Magazine Subsciptions

I have recently realized that my magazine subscriptions have spun out of control and that it may be time to ditch a couple. I current get Sports Illustrated, Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone and Blender. How many of you are subscribed to magazines and which ones do you get?

The only one I subscribe to is Playboy Magazine, and (go ahead an laugh) that is just to read the articles and really good monthly interview. Sorry ladies, it's not the touched up and airbrushed photo's of plastic women, it's really not.

I do believe you. Did you know that Ray Bradbury's novel, Fahrenheit 451, was orginally serialized in Playboy magazine in the 1950s? This story was hardly sexed up. Joyce Carol Oates and other fiction writers I admire have been published in Playboy. If Playboy accepted and published one of my stories, I wouldn't be embarrassed.

I believe you too, when I used to buy magazines online I would always get free issues of Stuff and Playboy magazine and Wired. I read the articles in Playboy and I couldn't believe how interesting some were but now I'm too embarassed to buy it in the store because I don't really want to subscribe to it, what kind of message would that send to my boyfriend?? But I think Esquire as really interesting articles too sometimes, like last month I loved the article on Arnold Swarzhenneger, I might want to read books on him now.

I currently have subscriptions to Baby Talk and Off-Road Adventures (for my husband, but he never reads them). I used to have subscriptions to Parents and Horse Illustrated, but those have been cancelled.

I don't have any actually, but I do have some for my son.. like Kids Sports Illustrated and nickelodeon.. Something that will keep his interest at least.. I really never found anything that ever kept mine.. when I was in school though I used to read teen magazines those were ok.. Oh wait I did have a subscription to craft magazines likes beading and things like that for other kinds of crafts.. Those were kinda neat.. You almost can make them and sell them in different places... However I never did..

Right now, none. I used to subscribe to Maxim, Blender, Bizarre and FHM but realized that most of the info in them was the same. I am a comic book geek so I read a lot of the dark ones and grab them at my local comic book store. I will occasionally pick up a copy of FHM or Maxim but most of the time I end up getting copies of them from friends when they are done reading them.

Let't see... I get Women's Day, Ladies Home Journal and Writer's Digest. I'm letting the Writer's Digest subscription run out because I never read it. I've saved all my back issues, hoping to some day read them (yeah, right). I used to subscribe to more, but ran into the same problem that you're having now.

How ironic...just got my mail and got my second to last edition of Writer's Digest in the mail. They stated right on it that there's only ONE issue left to my subscription. Sorry, it was too ironic to not say anything!

I will say that I 'subscribe' to them because I buy them nearly every month at my local Barnes and Nobles, which probably is worth three subscriptions, I buy AdBusters, NEXUS, Paranoia, Scientific American, and Brain Child magazine.
