I need some advice... |
|
I need some advice from my Earthy girls out there. I have to use sulfate free soap and shampoo. I use Jason Naturals Shampoo which I love but I'm getting bored. I also love facial and body products that are natural or home remedies are even better. So who uses natural products and what are your favorites? They can be handmade by someone or mass produced but I was just looking for some new alternatives to stuff I'm getting bored with! Thanks for reading!

1. whiteheron (893) | 4 months ago | I love Dr. Bronner's Magic soaps... they are good for the environment and smell wonderful. I love the lavender liquid soap and also the bar soap. The mint is refreshing. They also have the Almond, Baby powder scent, Euchalyptus, Rose, etc. They are natural and their bottles have good reading on them... They are made by a family that is carrying on the traditions of Dr. Bronner who made soap and wrote odd religious poetry about people being "All-One". I like that the makers of the soap are motivated by more than just making money and are donating some profits to assist others and that they sold some of their lands to insure that children have a place to play.... makes me feel good using their products.

skinnychick (2694) | 4 months ago | Thanks so much! I had a few people tell me about that soap. I never remember it when I'm at the store but next time I will. I have adult acne- ughhhh- and people have been saying that this soap will help clear it so I have to give it a go. I really appreciate the advice.

whiteheron (893) | 4 months ago | Glad to to assist... I honestly have not heard anything about the soap and acne but do know that campers and others who go into the wild were told that it was a good soap to use as it is not harmful to the environment. That was initially my main motivation for using it. Finding something that smells good was what kept me using it. Good luck in finding a soap that you like.

2. Angelwhispers (4199) | 4 months ago | Hello SkinnyC:))) I am just moving into this direction myself, so I have no real advice however I will be watching your thread here and perhaps asking questions if I see something of great interest. Something is causing my legs and other parts of my body to be way way overly dry. So I think its time to babble in the old kitchen magic and see if there are better more healthy alternatives for skin care.

skinnychick (2694) | 4 months ago | Sounds like a plan..find a good handmade soapmaker and get some goat's milk soap and lotion- that will help that dry skin in no time. Eventually using just the soap you won't need lotion anymore it makes your skin so soft. If you are vegan glycerin soap is good too but goat milk is better. Just use a good soapmaker. Thanks so much for your comment. I hope you find this post helpful.

4. cynicalandoutspoken (1894) | 4 months ago | I like Aussie Products. Not sure how environmentally friendly they are but they smell good and keep my frizz at bay. I remember about a decade ago I spent like $60 on different kinds of "all natural" hair and skin products but for the life of me I can't remember the name of them. They smelled good and worked well but at the end of the day the cost was too great to make buying them a habit.

skinnychick (2694) | 4 months ago | Some natural stuff is pretty spendy. I used to love Aussie stuff for my hair until Sulfates started to make my hair fall out. It was already fragile.:( I do miss using those even if they are filled with chemicals. Those chemicals made it smell good! Thanks for stopping by hun!

5. II2aTee (389) | 4 months ago | You have probably heard of this, but milk baths are the best thing you can do for your skin. This concept actually has it roots far back into history. It is said Cleopatra bathed in milk to keep her skin young and beautifull. However, even father back is a pagan tradition where woman would bath in milk for the same reason. Now, there IS actually a Wiccan Ritaul associated with this technique I am going to tell you about. This is an old spell that is used by witches to cleanse the aura of impurities and relax the muscles. I like to set the mood first. I will turn off the lights and light a few candles. White, for purity of course. Blue, for relaxation, and maybe even a purpe or two for psychic awareness and higher thought. Sometimes I will play gentle music... sometimes I'll play one of those "Sounds of the Forest" soundtracks, just to inspire an ambiance of relaxation. However, sometimes I will bath in complete and total silence so my mind can drift freely from one thing to the next, unbridled. Draw a bath, make the water as warm as you wish. Personally, I like steamy hot. Adding sea salt is always a good idea when bathing. It will help releive your tense muscles at the same time pull any bad residue you have stored in your aura. Add a cup.. or two.. or four (its up to you - whatever feels right) of milk, and swirl it into the water untill it becomes cloudy and inviting. Now, my personal favorite touch. Scatter a handfull of fresh rose petals in your bath. You will be amazed by how a few rosepetals can transform an ordinary bath into your own personal spa. Soak for as long as you need, and peace be with you. After my bath I sometimes finish with a cold shower rinse. This would be like standing under a cool waterfall after bathing in a hot spring. The cold water has two purposes. One, it invigorates you. After such a long relaxing bath, the cool water will awaken your senses to a height the surpasses your awarness higher than before the bath. Two, the cold water will actually close your pores, giving your skin a young, fresh glow. I use this trick after a stressfull day, or a line of stressfull days. It's nice to pamper yourself every once ina while and you dont have to go to a spa to do it. All you need is a bathtub, milk, salt and rose petals. I am a firm believer that is the mind is happy, the body has no choice but to follow.

7. II2aTee (389) | 4 months ago | Oh I actually do have a product line you might want to try. I used to work in a health food store and my manager was this really old leather bag of a wrinkled woman. Anyway she got fired for stealing. But a year later she came back into the store to shop and I didnt even recognize her. She looked AWESOME. Like 3 years younger. I asked her what she did and she told me about a line called "All My Skin". That was about 4 years ago so I'm not even sure if they still make it. But seriously the results were incredible. She looked like a totaly new person.
