II2aTee started a new discussion called Republicans and Social Issues. in politics. 7 days agoIt seems to me that lately I am encountering more and more Republicans and Conservatives who are in favor of gay marriage. As everyone knows Republican Dede Scozzafava recently dropped her campaign in New York after inner party controversy over her stance on social issues. Apparently because she is in favor of gay marriage she is considered too liberal to be a Republican. I was shocked to re...
II2aTee responded to a discussion called Religious and Spiritual Beliefs in Political Discussion... in politics. 7 days agoIt would be virtualy impossible to regulate any kind of law saying you cannot use your religious beliefs at the voting booth. People can vote for any reason they want. What you are reffering to as people trying to ban them in conversations on the net is perfectly legal and a very effective tool when trying to win support for your particular cause. Smart poiliticians capitalize on this. Every...
II2aTee responded to a discussion called Gay/Straight... help me understand in life. 4 days agoWell how about we set up seperate bathrooms for gay men and lesbian women? Why stop there? We could set up seperate drinking fountains. Seperate locker rooms. Seperate tables in resturaunts. We could make a whole new line of public transportation for gay people. We could set up gay only schools... gay only stores. The possibilities are endless. there are sooo many ways we could try to kee...
II2aTee responded to a discussion called If it is "normal" why does it need to be taught? in people. 4 days agoOne of the things that can't be disputed about homosexuality is that people come to realize it without help from anyone else. That makes sense though since, well, they look around and notice that they are attracted to people who are the same sex.You just answered your own question, if you would only take this line of thought another step further. Let me tell you a little story, I ...
II2aTee commented in a discussion called Republicans and Social Issues. in politics. 7 days agoWhen you say “I don't see special interest taking hold of the Republicans like it has the Democrats.” Cant the religious right be considered a special interest group who has always found a comfortable home within the Republican base? You said yourself that gay marriage is a religious issue. If that is the case then why did Republicans take up the Churches banner? I suppose the question of m...

II2aTee commented in a discussion called Republicans and Social Issues. in politics. 7 days agoOh ok Im sorry. I think I understand what you were saying now. But tell me this. You are married right? Lets pretend you move to another state. That state says "Sorry, we dont recognize marraiges from your home state. You arent legally married here." Would you persue legal action?I hope you would. Because marriage is NOT a state institution. It's Federal.
II2aTee commented in a discussion called Republicans and Social Issues. in politics. 7 days agoScozzafava was considered a good Republican candidate untill word broke out about her liberal views on many social issues. Any news sourse you look to will say that she was opposed by a majority of of her party because of her stance on social issues - namely gay marraige and abortion. So to me, that says that she was denied her shot at being elected because of her views on same sex marraige....
II2aTee commented in a discussion called Republicans and Social Issues. in politics. 7 days agoRegardless of chicken and egg, the fact is that somehow modern marriage has been warped into a government funded and regulated institution. Like I said, people can be married in the eyes of the government and give two hoots about what the church says. No one in this country needs the Churches approval to get married. Why should gay couples have to answer to them, when no one else does? It's ...
II2aTee commented in a discussion called If it is "normal" why does it need to be taught? in people. 4 days agoBottom line Ted, in case you or anyone else just skimmed the response (I'm sure you didnt tho) is that educating kids about homosexuality has nothing to do with morality. It has nothing to do with STDs or pregancy... and it dosnt even need to be discussion in the same breath as sex education. It's about adressing the fears of gay youth, letting them know there is help, and there are answers....

I’ve noticed a few people here compare Barak Obama to Adolf Hitler. I call this kind of base comparison nothing but hysteria. Not only that but it is an insult to anyone whom has been terrorized by...
