| | I don't like the mats on my tub. I find they hold some for m of darkness. Like the tub turns colors under the mat. I clean my tub with bleech and ajax often. So that should not happen. But I guess it is due to the moisture from showers. I do like to apply those cute appliqués to the tub. I don't know why I have not thought of that with this tub. I guess I am trying to leave it. So I am not really trying to do much. I had some of those in the shape of sea creatures when we had the dolphin bath decor up. I may change the bath decor to red and yellow. So I will look to buy some of them. | | | | | | | | | | JJ Keller OSHA Solutions 55+ Years of Trusted Regulatory Supplies for any Size Organization www.JJKeller.com | add comment | | | |

| | I will have to admit that small 'sticker' type pads don't serve as well as a larger mat. For personal reasons, I think the smaller pads are easier to clean. I am not a neat-freak, my wife would happily tell you so. but the smaller pads seem easier to pull up and clean than the big mats. When I pull them up they have a residue and I can't help but imagine all sorts of breeding bacteria and the like under there. The mats, when I had them, seemed terribly hard to get clean. The little pads could, if one were willing, be put in the dishwasher. I still wash them by hand, but I think they are easier to manage than one big mat. I never used to think such things as path mats or pads were needed. They seemed, to me, like a type of decoration designed to beautify a tub. The reason for this might trace back to my own childhood. See, we never had these things in my house. However, thinking back to my childhood, I do recall the feeling of one foot slipping as you step out of the tub on more than one occasion. Once upon a time, as I was standing up to get out of the bathtub, I slipped and fell, striking my head. My chin too, as I recall. I don't think the absence of a bath mat had much to do with it in that case. I was taking a really hot bath and had been on the highschool wrestling team. I think the water had been to hot and I had been eating inadequate food. I believe I got dizzy and fell. Perhaps, however, I fell because myfoot slipped -- but I just don't remember it. Now, my childhood was an interesting thing. (To continue the story now that I'm involved in remembering it.) My father had a thing about running off to the hospital. This costs money, you know, and he needed money for his alcohol. Well, I didn't go to the hospital after falling but -- instead -- went to the wrestling practice. I had a white sweatshirt on. I was bleeding from my head. The coach saw it. I think he sent me to the hospital. I don't really remember. I just remember being in the hospital. They, the hospital, didn't really do anything for me. Just gave me a few strips to hold a cut in my chin closed and sent me home. I have, to this day, a scar in the middle of my chin to remind me of that day. I also work in the medical field. As people get older, they tend to have more fragile bones. It may not be terribly likely that someone will slip and fall. But when you get older, balance is off, reflexes are slower, and perhaps sometimes your blood pressure or hear rate fall off.. you could get dizzy. You could fall. And a broken hip is a bad thing in a older person who's body doesn't heal as fast. Being of the mind that one will probably never really know at which point to call themselves 'old' it is probably better to just do what you can. Putting the pads and mats in the tub became, to my way of thinking, a minor and reasonable step. I have gotten used to the idea and now it is just something I expect to see in the tub. I would avoid those 'glue to the tub' sandpaper strips I've seen before, but other than that I will have pads or mats in my bath tub. | | | | | | | | | | Safety & Health Degree Online, Flexible, Self-Paced Affordable, BCSP recognized. www.ColumbiaSouthern.edu/OSH | add comment | | | |

| | We have some hunter green whales on the bottom of our bathtub. We do have a bath mat, but it never gets used. It is a thicker foamy one and it does not stick to the bottom of the tub very well. | | | | | | | | | | Affordable Stair Treads Reduce slips, protect hardwood with stylish carpet stair treads. www.deanstairtreads.com | add comment | | | |
