I Am Sooooo Proud...

Awwwwww, that's wonderful! I'll bet you are really proud of that little nephew of yours.

My kids and grandkids got various certificates but I don't think they've ever received medals as a reward for their good work. It's a nice reward to give, because it encourages them, I feel.

Wow that is just great...hooray for your nephew...lol I have an 8 yr old nephew that is a super reader. He was reading at 8th grade level at the end of last year and is now reading the Harry Potter books. He is also very artistic too. His teacher told my brother and sister in-law that they should get him in some kind of art classes... his attention to detail is phenomenal.

"Favorite nephew"... I used to call my oldest nephew that when he was little. Of course, I could get away with it because he was my only nephew at the time.

My 16th year old still gets lots of awards. He is excellent in Science and Math too. At the same time he is an excellent baseball player,so I usually buy him his favorite clothes and shoes and we go out with the family to celebrate.

Oh yes, my children have both excellent reading and math skills..I claim the reading part and give credit to my husband for the math part..

I know how you feel about being proud and tell him I think he's doing fantastic..! My son, CJ has Autism and yet he gets A's and B's in school. We work after school each day and he has great help with a personal aide during the day. He loves Math and Spelling. His comprehension in reading isn't very good but he's getting better.
It's just wonderful when children exceed beyond our wildest dreams; even though they might not get their 'brains' from us...Which is true for me as well; I am learning by teaching CJ.

Wow. You have every right to be a proud aunt.

For some reason, the only thing that Emily (my daughter) ever brought home was an honorable mention in the 'young authors' competition. She had written a 'book' entitled "My Mom Is Sick". They showcased the winners and honorable mentions at the local library and we had to go with the rest of the town to observe all of them.

I only had one son and he is a adult now with a family of three of his own. But when he was in school he didn't get any medals or anything like that. What he accomplished he did because he knew he could do it. He is a very smart individual and things come easy to him. His best subject was math. One of his teachers taught him and the other students how to figure in their heads without paper or pencil. It amazes me how he can do this. I am talking about not only small numbers but doing very big numbers. I would never be able to do that. He has always had a thirst for knowledge and researchs on the internet a lot.

Good for you, keep encouraging him! I don't get to see my grandkids very often, but I am always amazed when I do.

I do not have any children or a nice or nephew but if I did and they did as well as he did I would be proud of them also. I am glad you did something special with your nephew to let him know what a great job he did.
