Just curious. I speak German, learned in college. I also studied French and Russian but didn't learn either one fluently. Right now for fun (and frustration) I am dabbling with Indonesian. So who speaks a second language (or more) and why did you learn another language?

When I was growing up, I spoke French fluently, for it was all my grandmother could speak. Now, that I am older, I only converse with my older family members in French, and it's not all that much. I know how to get by with speaking it now, but not as much as I once knew. Now my youngest son is teaching me Spanish. Since we live in a Spanish community it comes in handy at times. However, I don't know all that much. I could ask for a glass of water, and say thank you, along with a few other things. I think knowing multiple languages is a plus. Especially if you live in a bilingual community.

I took French for two years in Middle School, and four years in high school, but I don't speak it fluently. I studied Spanish in college for two years, and I understand Spanish almost completely and am able tp speak it fairly well. I would love to learn Russian.

I can speak just a little bit of Spanish. I took 3 years of it in school you would think that I would have remembered more of it than I have. I seemed to forget most of it once I was out of school.
