Internet addict!!! |
|
Yesterday I found out something interesting about myself. My internet was not working and I had withdrawal symptoms. I know this seems silly but it is true. I quit smoking last year and yesterday was as stressful and long as that. Are you addicted to the internet? How do you cope when it's down?

1. thinkingoutloud (1386) | 6 months ago | I get so upset if my DSL goes down. I work from home and I'm entirely dependent on my computers for that... so if I can't get online, believe me, I'm stressed LOL I usually find something to keep me busy while I wait it out (doing extra loads of laundry, cleaning my office, walking on my treadmill...)... and, if all else fails and I have no connectivity for long periods of time, I'll resort to my backup dial-up account to at least allow me to get emails out to colleagues and things of that nature.

2. anuraa30 (718) | 6 months ago | Me too. I get severe withdrawal symptoms. I start behaving like a wierdo if there is no internet. I try reading, listening to music, trying to complete work, or sleep. Or even try watching movies on CD or Television. Hardly works.

Lucky it doesn't happen too often except when we have thunderstorms and I have to shut down so computer doesn't get zapped then I start sitting here pacing and thinking of all I should be clicking on and such. It is different when I am off cleaning or out and about running errands and can't be on it but when the internet is down it does cause more of a panic attack and I am usually right on the phone making a call to the phone company to let them know and so far have been lucky and had it connected again within a half hour or so. Twice it has happend and I had to go in and type in some sort of numbers and such and then it resets the dsl box and gets it going again. It actually happend last week and of course I have had such a cold and lost my voice and trying to talk to them and get my internet back was a chore for sure. They kept telling me save my voice haha I wanted to say give me back my internet and I don't have to talk haha.

4. vulgarlittleprincess (464) | 6 months ago | I am definatly addicted to the internet! If my internet goes down for like, five minutes I already climbing the wall. Expecially if I know it is down and there is nothing I can do about it. When I try to stay away from the internet for a long period of time I simply can not do it. It seems impossible sometimes.

6. kimbers867 (1050) | 6 months ago | Yes, I can admit I am addicted to it. Usually if it is down is because we have no electricity which means then the cable is out so then I am trying to keep my girls entertained. Usually I clean and declutter when it is down. We were living in a hotel for four months and we only had one computer. So I learned real fast on how to scale back my internet time. LOL - I started reading again!!!

7. CheshireKat (433) | 6 months ago | Yeah, I need my internet. If for no other reason than I have a few friends that live far away who are difficult to get on the phone, but can often times be caught online. [I'm not sure how that works, one would think that it would be easier to be near one's cell phone rather than their computer with internet access.] Oh well, I won't give them too much grief. I do spend a lot of time online, though. Sometimes I'll just boot up the computer and sign onto messengers while I'm sitting and doing homework, stream some music from somewhere... Just let myself kick back and relax. I think I could maybe function without internet, as long as it wasn't for a prolonged period, but there's no way I could handle my entire computer being toast.
