New blog for diabetic recipes | | Since blogger deleted my blogs I have been asked if I was going to make another blog with low-carb recipes for diabetics. Well I thought about it for a few days and now I have started a new blog. It doesn't have a lot of recipes yet but I am adding more on it every day. If you have any recipes (25 or less grams of carbohydrates)you would like to share, please send them to me. Your name will be shown as the person who contributed the recipe. At this time I am putting Slow cooker or Crock pot recipes on this new blog. Please visit the blog and leave a comment. All comments are welcome. http://diabetic-recipes.blogdrive.com Thanks, Kowgirl

Kowgirl (1862) | 7 months ago | Thanks for the link and many thanks for visiting my blog. I was told by several doctors that sugar is not the enemy, it's what it is mixed with that has the bad side effect of raising the blood sugar and these are highly processed foods like processed bleached flour which is used to make bread, white rice which has very little nutrition after it has been processed and of course pasta, which is made with bleached flour. As for cheese I eat it almost every day and it has not caused any rise in my glucose level. Because regular pasta is made from bleached processed flour I had to quit eating it until I found Dreamfields Pasta which has only 5 grams of digestible carbs and a 65% lower glycemic index, it also has twice the fiber of regular pasta. What kind of pasta do you eat? Every day there is something new diabetics can eat that were not available a few months ago. Thanks again for the link and good health to you. Kowgirl

crazy1 (240) | 7 months ago | Sugar is a bad thing in any diabetic diet, I am only allowed 3 pieces of fruit per day because of the natural sugar, that works out to say 1 banana, 1 apple and maybe 1 feijoa. I've had to stop drinking things like coke etc as it bumps my sugar levels up by 5 to 6 points. I still use a little sugar in my diet, usually only around quarter of a teaspoon of sugar in coffee and tea to get rid of the bitter taste. As to refined foods, I aggree, what little sugar I use is raw sugar, it's a lot less refined than white sugar as less bleaches etc have been used in it. As for pasta, I eat fettucini with no ill effects, nice with bolognese, but the parmessan cheese shoots my sugar levels up because of the high fat content. I also make meals with macaroni as well as white rice. So far, no bad effects from these (high sugar levels)touch wood. I guess at the end of the day, it comes down to being sensible, eating smaller amounts and eating reguarlily, and eating healthy with small snacks in between times.
