| Help! Puppy training | | | | Anyone got any advice on how to get my new puppy to go outside to go to the toilet? Brought him three weeks ago when he was just eight weeks. First few days we had training pads down, and slowly took them away and closer to the door on the anticipation that he would keep following the pads. Now though he just goes where the pads were rather than getting closer to the outside. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |

| | What type of a dog do you have? Potty training is very hard...and the wee wee pads don't make it any easier! Crate training your pooch is a great way to solve this problem. If you are not watching pup closely, into the crate he goes (make it like his little bedroom, not a punishment!) Don't just let your dog outside to go, go with him. Take him out a zillion times a day, but not to play. Teach him going outside is for business first, then for playing. Take him out after eating, after inside play, after napping, ect. Ignore pup when outside on leash, and just watch him out of the corner of your eye. Bring treats to reward a job well done. Make sure the crate you get is just big enough for your pup to stand, sit, and lay down in. If it's too big, pup will just go in a corner and sleep in the other corner. Your dog won't want to mess in his bedroom. Good luck! | | | | | | | mrtimharry (957)
