There's Nothing Like It To Lift Your Mood!

Today, I find myself contemplating Nature once again. With the clocks turning forward last Sunday, the evenings have become much lighter... twilight isn't until almost eight o'clock now.
The day dawned cloudy, but with the sun peeking through, and intermittently baring Himself in all his glory, bathing the Earth in bright light. The birds were singing, and the children can be heard playing happily in the school playground. The weather is much warmer and the winds have subsided, so all is much calmer and more colorful. I got up and walked to the living room window, to look out upon my garden. The daffodils, battered by the winds, rain and snow of late, are on their way out, but as is Nature's way, are being replaced by new leaves on the rose bushes and forsythia, huge clumps of polyanthus, deep red, yellow, and coral coloured, litter the garden beds, and daisies are springing up on the lawn. (It must be time to get the mower out!)
Sparrows are hopping around the branches of a wild rose bush, amongst the hips which still cling to them, bluetits and sparrows are hanging on the peanut columns pecking away at their breakfast, and a baby blackbird sits on the lawn in the sun, preening its feathers, oblivious to anything or anybody else. Further on, the newly shorn sheep graze lazily in the field, heavy with unborn lambs, and crows fly in twos and threes across the field.
Returning to my desk, and the dining room, at the front of my home, I can see the children running around behind the curtain of trees, in their natural play space, fully enjoying the early days of spring. A neighbour across the way is hanging out her washing on the clothes line; the hawthorn hedge is speckled green with the unfolding of its leaves, the cherry tree on the bank, out front, is laden with rich, pink blossom, as everybody goes about their daily lives. People are trotting to and from the post office with their newspapers, and so begins the new season of new life. I feel content, warm and happy as I gaze upon the Wheel's turn.
So, do you like Spring? How would you describe it, in your own words? Are you able to watch daily developments from your window, and how is your garden growing? How does all this make you feel? I'm sitting here with a smile on my face right now, at the wonder of it all. How about you?

You didn't have daylight savings time until last Sunday? Daylight savings time here in Nebraska was April 9th they changed it to help out the farmers.
I love spring how can anyone not like listening to the birds singing, smelling the fresh flowers, seeing kids playing outise running around happy, the ducks floating on the ponds the fish are biting gotta love spring.
Today is a dreary rainy day so won't be enjoying spring to much today.

Yes, I know yours was put forward this year. Our summer time used to start on the nearest Sunday to the first day of Spring, 21st March, but they put it back a couple of years ago, to the last Sunday in March. That happened to be 30th March, this year, so we were really late. It's nice though, that suddenly it's light until a quarter to eight, eight o'clock at night. It always used to be only seven, and the weather wasn't great either. Of course, our farmers start later than yours because the seasons don't turn so quickly... it's a gradual process here, and all the rain we've had of late would have washed away any seeds before they even started to germinate.
Yes, Spring is a lovely time. Soon, when it's less muddy, I shall be walking out to the millponds to see the ducks and geese, and hopefully, the absent swans will have returned.
Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution.

On his jaunt following the creek hubby saw signs of raccoons eating freshwater mussels, and beaver gnawing on trees, and he even startled a deer. Bear in mind this was within city limits. We did Spring forward here in Kansas on March 9 this year. I would be fine with leaving it this way year round.

Wow... it's a pity you couldn't walk on with your hubby. He seems to have discovered some wonderful things. I often see deer and badgers around here. I love both animals. We even have a badger comes each night to take bread off my downstairs neighbour's window ledge.

Yes, I think for you to experience Spring in another country would be a very drastic, and pleasant eye-opener to how the seasons unfold, and everything is reborn. It does sound much like your rainy season, but I would doubt it's as warm as in your country, my friend. Summer is the warmest season for us, and I would think that only compares with your rainy season.
Brightest Blessings my friend, and thank you for your interesting contribution.

Ewwwwww... I'm hoping our mud has dried out a bit now. I love crocuses when they grow in the snow.. beautiful. The snow will all be gone now and I'm sure it won't take to long to dry up there.
Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution my dear friend. xxx

I love dark pink hawthorn blossoms, but we seems to have mainly white in my area, with the occasional pink one. Some of our apple blossoms came and went with the earlier warm period, but we do have some lovely cherry blossoms and the magnolias, are almost majestical.
I love your enthusiastic response, Hatley... thank you so much. Brightest Blessings.

I love spring and my favourite flower is the daffodil pal , everywhere we went this morning there were daffodils , All around this area and especially at roundabouts there are thousands , I could sit in my car and look at them for ages , I would love to get out of the car and sit in the midle of them , But I would be carted off for damaging them lol , so I will just admire from afar , xx

Nearly all our daffodils are gone now.
The weather has been too severe for them, but all the rain has brought us some beautiful Polyanthus and blossoms. The magnolia tree between here and the pub is stunning right now.
Brightest Blessings, my dear friend and thank you for your thoughts. I can just see you sat in the middle of a clump of daffodils. You know, I always wanted to walk into the middle of a field of poppies and admire it from the middle... maybe this year!

My husband and I are both at home this evening, and he cooked for me. After that, I convinced myself I needed to walk. I have had a couple of relatively pain free days, but today my feet were telling me about their aches and pains. There is a creek nearby, or a drainage culvert. It does have trees around, so when we got there, hubby followed it awhile. It was not an area I wanted to walk in, so I sat by a fence, under a pine tree, and conversed with a robin that was determined to tell everyone I was there. I find I can walk outdoors, even on sidewalks, much easier and further than indoors. Walking on the ground, rather than the sidewalk, is even better. I was trying to explain to him that walking has the same rhythmic sense that rocking in a rocking chair does, and I can do it for a long while. Not like walking indoors.

Now the way I understand it there is an English Robin as well as our Robin Red brea st. Do you have both? These robins here love to come out right after we mow and march across the lawn feasting on uncovered buggy delicacies.

Awwwwww, it sounds as though you had a lovely time, conversing with your robin friend, and taking in the nature that surrounded you. There must be something about the robin, as I have one here that follows me around the garden, and when I went to Chalice Well Gardens, one hopped down from the tree beside the bench, and sat an inch from my foot, twittering away at me. lol.
Brightest Blessings my friend, and happy walking. I have to get out and about soon, in this sunshine.

Awwwwww, that sounds so pleasant and peaceful, my dear friend. Yes, Mother Nature sure has been working hard at it again, as always. The weather's about to change to colder again on Sunday, so I hears, so we'd best not get the loungers out just yet! It's a pity because it looked really inviting out there today.
Brightest Blessings my dear friend, and thank you for your input. x

Perhaps she put them in a drawer somewhere? xxx
