There's Nothing Like It To Lift Your Mood! |

| Today, I find myself contemplating Nature once again. With the clocks turning forward last Sunday, the evenings have become much lighter... twilight isn't until almost eight o'clock now. The day dawned cloudy, but with the sun peeking through, and intermittently baring Himself in all his glory, bathing the Earth in bright light. The birds were singing, and the children can be heard playing happily in the school playground. The weather is much warmer and the winds have subsided, so all is much calmer and more colorful. I got up and walked to the living room window, to look out upon my garden. The daffodils, battered by the winds, rain and snow of late, are on their way out, but as is Nature's way, are being replaced by new leaves on the rose bushes and forsythia, huge clumps of polyanthus, deep red, yellow, and coral coloured, litter the garden beds, and daisies are springing up on the lawn. (It must be time to get the mower out!) Sparrows are hopping around the branches of a wild rose bush, amongst the hips which still cling to them, bluetits and sparrows are hanging on the peanut columns pecking away at their breakfast, and a baby blackbird sits on the lawn in the sun, preening its feathers, oblivious to anything or anybody else. Further on, the newly shorn sheep graze lazily in the field, heavy with unborn lambs, and crows fly in twos and threes across the field. Returning to my desk, and the dining room, at the front of my home, I can see the children running around behind the curtain of trees, in their natural play space, fully enjoying the early days of spring. A neighbour across the way is hanging out her washing on the clothes line; the hawthorn hedge is speckled green with the unfolding of its leaves, the cherry tree on the bank, out front, is laden with rich, pink blossom, as everybody goes about their daily lives. People are trotting to and from the post office with their newspapers, and so begins the new season of new life. I feel content, warm and happy as I gaze upon the Wheel's turn. So, do you like Spring? How would you describe it, in your own words? Are you able to watch daily developments from your window, and how is your garden growing? How does all this make you feel? I'm sitting here with a smile on my face right now, at the wonder of it all. How about you? | | Polyanthus | | | | |

| | You didn't have daylight savings time until last Sunday? Daylight savings time here in Nebraska was April 9th they changed it to help out the farmers. I love spring how can anyone not like listening to the birds singing, smelling the fresh flowers, seeing kids playing outise running around happy, the ducks floating on the ponds the fish are biting gotta love spring. Today is a dreary rainy day so won't be enjoying spring to much today. | | | | | | |

| | Yes, I know yours was put forward this year. Our summer time used to start on the nearest Sunday to the first day of Spring, 21st March, but they put it back a couple of years ago, to the last Sunday in March. That happened to be 30th March, this year, so we were really late. It's nice though, that suddenly it's light until a quarter to eight, eight o'clock at night. It always used to be only seven, and the weather wasn't great either. Of course, our farmers start later than yours because the seasons don't turn so quickly... it's a gradual process here, and all the rain we've had of late would have washed away any seeds before they even started to germinate. Yes, Spring is a lovely time. Soon, when it's less muddy, I shall be walking out to the millponds to see the ducks and geese, and hopefully, the absent swans will have returned. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution. | | | |

| | On his jaunt following the creek hubby saw signs of raccoons eating freshwater mussels, and beaver gnawing on trees, and he even startled a deer. Bear in mind this was within city limits. We did Spring forward here in Kansas on March 9 this year. I would be fine with leaving it this way year round. | | | |

| | Lucky you! My garden is like a soggy sponge, and if I had the mower on it already, it would have bald, muddy patches. It's drying out now after three days of sunshine, and a day of wind, but not quite ready yet for mowing. Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. | | | |

| | Last year I let it grow over the gap in the hedge so that it can be shaped either rounded or flat. The gap in the hedge leads to more garden and a shed. | | | |

| | I love spring and summer. After the harshness of winter, and the chaos of earliest spring, the warmer weather and bright flowers are always a more-than-welcome sight! For me, nighttime can have it's uses, but is generally a cold and unforgiving time. Everything looks and feels better in the warmer light of day. After winter's brutality and spring's nasty pollen counts, earliest summer is my absolute favorite time of year. I know the pollen is good, but after the pollen falls here, it doesn't rain much enough to wash it all away...and I of course have terrible allergies! Latest Spring/Earliest Summer is still cool enough at the hottest part of the day to not be unbearable, and warm enough at night to sleep with the fans on, and all the spring flowers are still in bloom before being baked to death in the dreadful heat of August in Georgia. Fall is a welcome relief after the final days of summer, and a fun time with all the harvest festivals going on, but it also brings the knowledge that winter comes very quickly once again. And I do NOT like winter. It stays cold enough to snow, but there's no precipitation along with it. Or it's just 2-3 degrees too warm to snow. I love to see the world come alive again after such cold, harsh dampness. I don't like to see it baked to death in the summer, as it's just an early reminder that seasons change, and winter comes again. I just trimmed my gardenias back so they could grow some prettier foliage this year. Last summer they nearly died from our drought, and I didn't want to trim them then for fear I really would kill them! So they got their "haircut", are much better-looking (as far better looking as a stick-bush can look), and hopefully they will come back to life in a couple of weeks. P.S. It sounds like you are having a wonderful, beautiful Spring where you are, and I wish my views were as lovely as yours! Alas, my view is of a dirty street, neighbor's unkempt gardens, and a smudge of my own lovely one. Hehehe, my "garden" is really just a tangle of vines and untamed rosebushes, but I love the way it looks and I didn't even work to make it that way! Nature did a fine job in my garden! | | | | | | |

| | Well, let's put it this way. I know they're keeping a close eye on him, but my friend had to go every month for tests and chemo, and now it's every two months. That's six years on my friend, so you have reason to be proud! I'm certainly proud of you, the way you've fought your way back. Huggggggs. xxxx | | | |

| | Thank you... news is good though. His specialist told him after he had the initial operation that his chances of getting completely rid of the cancer were 50/50, after 5 years, it would be 60/40 and each year after the five, it would increase by 10%. It was six years this year, since his op and his estimated chance of ridding himself completely is 70/30. So things are looking good, as they are for you. He only has to go for check ups every two months now. Fingers crossed, in another 3 years, it will be gone. xxxxx | | | |

| | I simply love spring. I patiently wait for the first sighting of green in my flower beds. Spring is a rebirth time for me. I feel like I am coming alive again. I get so excited with each new bird that comes home to roost. Imagine a child on Christma morning when I saw a red winged black bird a month ago. I call them my sargents. They always meant spring in Erie Pa, down here, they were a great pleasure to see again. I sit at a window and get to watch out side all day. We are in the country and I so enjoy watching as the trees swell ready to open. It's like over night they are green. I love it. It's good to feel alive again! | | | | | | |

| | Yes, I'm in the country too... it's lovely when spring comes, I agree. I saw a robin out on the wild rose bush this afternoon, when I looked out. I have a regular robin... I'm not sure if that was him as he usually sits on the front gate, or follows me round the garden when I'm mowing or weeding. He waits for insects and worms, I think. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your descriptive input. | | | |

| | I love dark pink hawthorn blossoms, but we seems to have mainly white in my area, with the occasional pink one. Some of our apple blossoms came and went with the earlier warm period, but we do have some lovely cherry blossoms and the magnolias, are almost majestical. I love your enthusiastic response, Hatley... thank you so much. Brightest Blessings. | | | |

| | Awwwwww, that sounds so pleasant and peaceful, my dear friend. Yes, Mother Nature sure has been working hard at it again, as always. The weather's about to change to colder again on Sunday, so I hears, so we'd best not get the loungers out just yet! It's a pity because it looked really inviting out there today. Brightest Blessings my dear friend, and thank you for your input. x | | | |
