I don't think it teaches us to be nosy, because, as you said, they obviously want us to know all their business. They are the ones standing in front of the cameras! I do think there are WAY too many reality shows though...every network has their own version of every show, but basically the story lines are the same. Let's be original people!

Seems the reality craze started back in the late 80's and has hung around. The networks show what the people want. And now it seems the people want REALITY shows. But as you state there are WAY too many on the TV niow days. Almost at any given time there's some type of REALITY show on TV. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I like some of the reality tv shows. I watch Big Brother, Survivor, and Hell's Kitchen. Other than those I'm not much into them. And I don't think that its morally wrong or anything. Its entertainment.

I don't really mind watching reality tv shows like american idol, so you think you can dance, america's next top model, and some others. It keeps me entertained becaues i get so see people in different situations and I just like it. So I have no problem with it whatsoever.

"Nosey" brought me right here! hehe... I love reality shows. I think that there is really nothing more interesting than people. I mean, sure they are scripted as far as what game they will be playing, or elimination round, whatever - but they in-between stuff is the real deal! Survivor is my ultimate favorite because I guess I'm just outdoorsy. I like the element of camp life, etc. I think the challenges are creative and unique, and I LOVE Jeff Probst ! :-D I have to admit, this new one, Moment of Truth, has proven to be quite juicy... and tempting hehe Readers, how much would your secrets be worth?!

I don't really watch a whole lot of reality shows, just Survivor, Biggest Loser, and some of those shows where they live like they are in the 1800s or something. With the first two, I feel like they are just glorified game shows. With the latter, I really feel like I learn something by watching these people living that way with a modern viewpoint. I don't feel like I'm being nosy at all. If these people didn't want us watching them, then they shouldn't have signed up for the show.

Well as you know I am addicted to BB. (Big Brother) This type of show with all the live feeds all day, every day makes one feel like a voyuer in a sense. Anyhow this is my fave followed by Survivor. I also like a lot of the reality shows they run on VH1 and MTV. BTW, I miss Joshua's antics now that he's been ousted. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM DADDY!!~

I love reality tv. Right now I am into Big Brother 9, The Survivor and The Biggest Loser. When the Amazing Race starts up I will be watching that one too. I think the people who find them morally wrong don't have to watch them and let us that do enjoy our shows. What shows do you like minnie? Right now there are so many that I like but really don't get around to watching all of them.

I like them, i try to suppress it a little b/c my fiance hates them, but sometimes i make him watch one with me. I like the ones that battle more than anything like Road Rules ( I think on MTV) the Gautlent and like shows. I also like Make me a Supermodel, and others. I use to watch Survivor, and Amazing Race but havent since ive been with my fiance so for three years. So I dont know if there as good as they were. Then I would like to watch the kid nation but never see it on when i go to the tv. I dont really watch the trading spaces, or Nanny ones that often. And the Extreme makeovers are good sometimes.

Hmm, never thought of it as being nosy. My favorite right now is 'Housewives of New York' and while I did watch Housewives of Orange County I just did not like it as much and only watched the marathon reruns at the end of the week after waiting a few. The New York one I literally count down the hours for because I just love the personalities. My favorites are Bethenney and Alex, because their so smart and go-getters and their personality I can relate to. I also like the Real World, Real World Gauntlet because I grew up watching these characters so its hard not to watch them duke it out. I like Jon and Kate plus 8, I found her husband more and more handsome the more I watch it but its his humor i like the most and that he's laid back. I did hear on World Autism Day that Discovery is going to have another reality show about a family of 8 with all autistic kids, except one son from a previous marriage, I'll be watching that. I watch the Paula Abdul show but kind of disappointed in it because I thought it would be better but she is a fighter but still some of the antics are a little annoying I watch alot of Documentaries on HBO:On Demand and some that I can catch on IFC. I really enjoy reading biographies so I guess I just like watching other peoples lives and taking whatever I can use personally to learn from.

Yeah some of the shows you can actually learn stuff from. Im gonna watch for that Autism one my son is autistic im sure i could learn something from that one.

If you have HBO, there is a documentary ON DEMAND about autistic kids and how this woman tried to put a musical together with I think 20-30 kids, I still have to finish watching it, my bf came home and changed it (makes him uncomfortable and our kids are up for vaccines?). I am always touched by these stories and hope to one day work with exceptional children but the kids in this particular documentary astounded me because they were so special and very smart. I am Bipolar and I can relate the the impulse thing and that really tugged at my heart too.

I think that, if they didn't want to have people in their business, they wouldn't have signed up for the show so, I don't think the shows are bad. There are a lot I don't/won't watch just because they aren't my bag. But, as you know, I love Big Brother. I also like Real World and Real World/Road Rules Challenge, and also Road Rules. It is a bit out of my age group as a viewer but, I get a kick out of watching these people make donkeys out of themselves and, I have been watching them since they first came on the air so, I watched them through my 20's (maybe earlier if I remember correctly) when it was ok for a woman my age to be watching it! LOL! I like Paradise Hotel 2 even though all of those people make me want to smack them! I like Survivor now and then. I will usually go about 5 seasons before I watch another one. I like The Amazing Race, The Mole...which is coming back in May I think, and one of my absolute favorites is So You Think You Can Dance. I can't think of any more that I watch right now but, I have liked a few and will probably like even more.

I love the reality shows. I think I watch VH1 more than any other channel. I think it's normal and most people have some sort of curiosity. I've heard this example sued quite often: when you're driving down the highway and you see an accident on the side of the road, how many people slow down to look? Just about everyone. I don't think the reality shows are morally wrong because we're not spying. The people on the shows have signed contracts (or whatever) and they know the cameras are there and they know it's being broadcast on tv and that people are watching. The people on the shows want to be watched. I loved I Love New York 2 and amd currently addicted to Rock of Love 2 and Celebrity Fit Club Boot Camp.

I love reality shows, to be honest! I don't know why, but there's something about watching other peoples lives that makes me forget about my own. haha. One show I really enjoy watching for some reason isn't really a reality show, it's like a quiz thingy.. A reality one though. Moment of Truth. I mean it ruins lives and relationships most of the time but it's a pretty intense show. I can't think of any real real reality shows that I watch though. The closest would probably be the bachelor, or beauty and the geek. Other than that I don't really watch them. i worry too much about my own life, I don't need to watch someone elses.

Some reality shows are ok. I may like them the first season, but then it gets kind of boring in my mind. There are also some shows that should be outlawed. Here they are having a show about three single moms that are dating a number of men. Last week there were four men left for each woman and they were introducing them to their kids. i think that was way out of line and unacceptable. I have written a post about it here earlier. adults are welcome to do whatever they want with their lives, but i think it is absolutely wrong to put your kids on display like that and expose them to mummys four suitors.

I had never heard of that show that is crazy. I mean I would never bring my kids into a show like that what were they thinking. Most shows wont get into kids and marriage kinda stuff. But these shows are starting to get ruthless. Im sorry but im still adicted lol.

I do think there is a potential for people to live vicariously through the lives of the participants of the show, rather than going out to live their own lives. I think they may also serve to desensitize us to the loss of privacy and freedom that we once valued. On the surface I think most of them are harmless enough, and even interesting.

whoa i never thought of that that way. reality shows does satisfy our nosy side. i thought i like watching reality shows because its a tv show! for entertainment, like evrything else on tv. it never occured to me i was being nosy but if you come to think of it you're really being nosy, curiously watching regular people given real situations.

i think they'r ebad they lack the creativity of shows period like they think just because they can hire a cast of people and judge who's in love or who's not millions are going to watch and sequels of the shows are going to come next season ....like its so over the top and over killed now that i just dont bother anymore watching it ......it feels as if the only real thing on TV today is the news ..

Well millions do watch. I will admit some are just bad copy cats of other shows. But some actually showcase peoples talents like American Idol and well people love those shows. Im into the siilly lets throw a bunch of kids in a house and see what happens kind to and well im not even sure I can defend these lol.
