My son's birhtday is next month and he is asking for a game.
I have save up enough money to get one for him but I'm not sure which one to get as I'm not good at this. He is going to be 8 next month and which of these game suites him better??? I've been saving for quite sometime and I don't want to get something that I will regret. Can anyone tell me which is better??

out of both, I prefer the DS. the games are better, more varied, and I think more games are suitable for younger players, as well as more games you could get for yourself to play too.
I found the PSP controls not so user friendly, and the games weren't as good.

I agree with Galena on this one. If he's only 8 then the DS is a better choice for him. Nintendo DS tend to please the younger one as opposed to the PSP for teenagers.

I agree that the DS is more userfriendly and it has a larger variety of games to offer; from brain training to the sims, disney and much more. I used to own a PSP but I got rid of it rather soon because most of the games were pretty violent and a lot of the same. With the DS there is more variety between individual games which makes this console more appealing to a larger public. Like said in earlier responses, there are much more child friendly games for this console aswell.
I own a DS since about a month and I love it.

Comapring between Nintendo DS and PSP, I think Nintendo DS should be more suitable for your son. Nintendo DS and its games is catered more for young kids, whereas the PSP and its games will be more suitable for older kids and adults perhaps.
Hope your son has liked what you had got him last year.
