Are the Idol shows (American and Canadian) almost outliving their popularity??

I would be surprised if this was the last AI because I don't think it is losing popularity. I know more people are watching it this year (including myself) than any other year. I guess we just have to wait and see. Maybe he's running out of nasty things to say...

I read, and I don't recall the source, that after next season (season 8), Simon's contract is up and he already has said he will not be renewing. That source also said the show wouldn't continue at that point. But, I don't even remember if I considered the source reliable or not. *shrug*
I get bored watching the auditions, and even the first few nights of the 'real' competition. But, once we get it narrowed down to (mostly) just the really good ones...I'm hooked 100%! lol

They did themselves in when Chris Daughtry didn't win... everyone I know stopped watching then. He has a great career now, and a huge following... they wanted middle-of-the-road, and he just couldn't do that.

I got tired of AI like 3 years ago, it just started getting boring, then the AI rewinds make it even more annoying. I was wondering when the last one will be, but with my luck there will be another one next year. I like the fact that it finds hidden talents but i just got bored with the show
