Sometimes local municipalities and counties have some good and some bad ideas. They all affect you. On average, are you behind or against what they propose?

We actually have pretty good local government where I live. The politicians (Democrat & Republican) are basically intelligent, common sense types who try very hard to act in the best interest of the community. They are helped along by a community that participates in zoning and civic association meetings and a local media that gives honest coverage. It wasn't always like this here and it's taken a lot of work on the part of a lot of people to get this good.

Just a few easons why I think we have good government: 1) The politicians listen to their constiuency and do not always tow their party's line. 2)Our representative to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives actually visits (or attempts to visit) every home in his district at least once a year. ( No mean feat, since there are several thousand households in this county.) 3) All of the reps and senators have offices that can be easily contacted and are willing to go to bat for the people they represent when appropriate.

I live in a small town in Northwest Virginia. On average I am for all the things they propose for our town. We so have some things that are passed or not passed that I disagree with. For example, they keep allowing new developments in our town. I wouls say at least 90% of the people in the town are completely opposed to these developments. I am all for growth, but it needs to be managed alot better. We need to gradually progress. All the developments that they just approved in the last year, should have been progressing over the next ten years. We don't have the resources (water) that we need yet to foot all these developments. Another thing I disagree with is some of the lack of law passing that I see with our town council. For example, I am a member of the fire department and rescue squad. Lat year they withheld our funding for several months, because they were upset about something. When a town does not approve funding for their emergency services, you know you have a problem. Anyway, like I said before, most of the time I agree with all of their decisions.
