"I am scared of Monsters..."  

it could be just an overactive imagination, or it could be not..

its well known that children have a keener sense and intuition than most adults about things unseen by grown-up "logical" eyes. myself personally.. if my little girl were to come to me afraid of a "monster" , and there wasnt any logical explanation for it (she hasnt watched anything scary, etc), id beleive what she was telling me, and deal with it accordingly. sometimes, there really are things that go bump in the night.

Give her a "monster remote" or a "monster begone" spray bottle...A monster remote is a remote without batteries of course and you tell her that when she feels there are monsters near she jsut has to "turn them off" with her magic remote....A monster spray bottle can be filled with actual water or "secret invisible monster begone spray" and when she feels there are monsters near she needs to spray that area and yell out "MONSTER BE GONE!"

It could be that your daughter is saying that just to seek attention...i know my son pulled every trick out of the hat to try to get out of going to bed. I would tell her something like there are no monsters, you have your nightlight and your teddybear...go to sleep...and then after 3-4 nights (though it might go as long as a week or more) of her protesting and crying you probably won't have any problems.

Hire a monsterslayer (like me!)

Okay, that one maybe too far. This will happen with toddlers and even young kids. A nightlight or smooth-luminescent lamp could help. A lucky charm may also work too.

Maybe your "toddler" mind is playing trick on her or there is really a "monster " under her bed. You never know. No one says there's no angels when you say there are. Its the same thing. Maybe there is some kind of life form that visited her at night. Did you know that children age 1-6 see things that we adults cannot see.

its probably not monsters but i know my boyfriends little brother when he was a toddler he went up to his mom and said mom grandpa just died and she was like what are you talking about and then the next morning she got a phone call saying that grandpa died. So it oculd all be just imagination. Has she watched monsters inc. or any scary movies? that might be it but it really isnt something that i would worry about. Just watch it unfold and see where it goes just dont let it get to far out of hand where she will grow up with a fear about monsters and everything.

I remember going through this phase myself as a child. I would either climb in my parents bed or beg my mom to lay down with me.
What scared me the most when I was little was this little hole in the wall that the lock on the doorknob created.
I would stare at the hole so long that it would distort and scare me half to death.
I would cry and cry that the hole was going to get me!
I don't know what took my parents so long to patch it; it would have saved all of us a lot of grief!

Maybe you should console your kid by some bailments. I know that it is not correct to teach incorrect things. But whatever, the kids are too young to understand the world. They need a process. So during this process, we should console them by some bailments.
However, the bailments should not be the evil ways. We should channel off them by gentle ways. Also, I think the parents have the incumbency to built up the visualize of hero in their children' heart.
Maybe you can console your kid by telling her the hero in cartoon. I think she would get calm by believeing the hero can protect her.

I had a very hard time with my daughter too. I would sit with her and wait to see if she could go to sleep because she swore there were monsters in her room too. She would stay up and cry and cry until she fell asleep. We would leave the lights on for her too but she would get out of her bed and come to my room every time. We finally had to give her tough love and make her stay in her room. We would put her to bed early and let her fall asleep a few times just to prove to her there were no monsters.
