In Debate the Loser Is...ABC!! |
|
There are literally thousands of articles about Wednesday night's Democratic debate but here's a link for just one of them: http://www.washingtonpost... I couldn't agree more! With the first 52 minutes of the two hour debate being devoted to "tabloid gossip" you'd think we had no problems whatsoever to speak of in this country, no important issues worth discussing! The fact that George Stephanopoulos got some of his questions from Sean Hannity's radio show doesn't do much to add to his, his colleague Charlie Gibson's or their network's credibility. Questions such as "Does Reverend Wright love America as much as you do?" and about wearing or not wearing a flag lapel pin, asking each candidate to agree to serve as the other's running mate without addressing either one by name who they knew who should answer first only served to show how much better MSNBC and CNN do when it comes to political coverage in general and debate broadcasts in particular. Does anyone here agree with me - and apparently many other voters - or do you think ABC did the candidates and the viewers justice? Annie

1. cheesehater (1231) | 4 months ago | This is exactly why I like you Annie. I think ABC was acting like a tabloid for the first hour. To tell you the truth, I turned away and tuned into hockey. It made more sense and was less violent. ABC is the worst, IMO, of all media stations in America. They act like middle-schoolers and present a similar product. Both NBC and CNN do a much better job. I like the jerks at FOX too. If you watch several sources you can get a better picture of the real story. Liberal, Moderate and Conservative newscasts and newsshows present their "news" in a biased way, they put their own spin on things. Somewhere in all those spins, we can find the truth, if we look for it. I think ABC actually did harm to the candidates and the network itself. After watching ABC let things go, I thought that ABC wasn't televising a debate between polital candidates, they had turned it into a show. Complete with host and side-kick. It was an entertainment event to ABC more than it was a televised debate. I think that the already questionable network news proved that its credibility questions have been validated. I won't ever site ABC as a source again, they stole a legitimate forum for the American people and two candidates running for the highest office in the land, and turned it into The View.

2. raydene (4620) | 4 months ago | Honey I can not be bothered with the waste of time it would take to sit and listen to these people lie and justify and make excuses and empty promises. I research each person and decide who I will vote for...I stay away from the hype inducing activities.... oxxoxoxoxoxoxo

anniepa (5183) | 4 months ago | You've got the right idea, Raydene, but it seems these days it's hard to know if you're getting accurate information or lies and exaggerations from the opposition these days. It's the perfect example of "good news/bad news" - it's good news that there's so much news available but it's BAD news that there's so much of it to sort through to get to the unbiased truth, if that even exists anymore. 3. skinnychick (2920) | 4 months ago | That as a total mess I would have to say. I think that channels specializing in the news have better reporters in general who are more capable of asking better questions to evoke better responses!

4. lilwonders123 (1287) | 4 months ago | I got tired of watching it and switched over to American Idol. It really was a jerry springer show (minus the fist fights). It was all about who said what and all the scandals. I mean come on, where were the issues? You know the important stuff we should be basing our decision on. ABC really messed up the debate. It surprised me the candidates did not look at the moderator at some point and say "are we going to talk about anything important or not?" Complete waste of time.

anniepa (5183) | 4 months ago | You know, I wish they would have done that. I'd love to see that one day for a candidate to flat out refuse to answer stupid questions and insist on debating the issues. I don't mean for them to refuse to answer IMPORTANT questions that concern the people of this country but the idiotic ones that seem to take up most of the time these days. Annie

| 5. bucks87 (6) | 3 months ago | this is the 1st time obama has been challenged and i say its about time, i can't stand this kissy faced coverage that is so biased against clinton and so far in the tank for obama. chris matthews is the worst of the bunch. speaking of matthews he keeps saying in effect its hillary's fault we are in iraq cause of he vote which is crap, so by that standard its chris matthews fault that 4000+ troops have died cause he voted for bush in 2000, total crap

anniepa (5183) | 3 months ago | I'm all for all of the candidates being challenged with tough questions in all the debates but in this debate the questions weren't about the issues at all! Did you really think there was any value to the question, "Does Reverend Wright love America as much as you do?"? I won't disagree with the media having been a bit against HIllary and maybe even a little easier one Obama up until this one but nothing can compare to how easy they've been on McCain. Annie
