Yeah he said he didnt want to go past seven seasons. But he said he would appear in at least 11-18 episodes next season. In my opinion the show wouldnt be the same with out him he is the best character on the show now that lionel is dead. And I couldnt picture smallville with out lex luthor. But I guarantee more people will be watching the episodes with him in it next season.

Michael Rosenbaum is his name I think and no I havent heard this.

His name is Michael Rosenbaum and I love him! he's the funniest guy ever in real life! i'm not kidding... honestly, i too am getting sick of the same old same old story of Smallville. I was a huge fan back then but I'm getting really bored with the show. Maybe this will be their last. Sometimes I'd like to say get done with it so we can move on already... lol... Smallville will never be the same without Lex Luthor.

Yes, I heard this too. But I also heard that Kristin Kreuk, aka Lana, might leave too. Both their contracts are over this year, so maybe they want out. The show wouldn't be the same without Lex (Michael Rosenbaum). They really need to make him more evil and push Clark into the real Superman roll already. Enough with boy wonder living on the farm business. When is Superman going to start doing something with his life and start making a difference by saving lives. Right now all he seems to care about is his close friends and Kara (his cousin). I though Superman was supposed to help people everywhere, not just his friends in his home town.

I thoroughly enjoy Michael Rosenbaum's portrayal of Lex Luthor in Smallville. I think he gave the character depth and I feel his is the most complex personality of them all.

It would be a total shame if they lose him. I'm not so sure if the fans would easily accept a replacement actor to play Lex. I would be having a hard time myself if that happens.

yeah his character will die. and they are going to bring in Doomsday. I'm not sure who is going to play him. it will be interesting to see. My husband is not to keen on this, he says they are going off the timeline of the comics. I really love smallville and i'm looking forward to the next episode and the next episode after that.:)

It is going to suck that he is leaving!!! He was the best Lex I am afraid if he leaves the show might go downhill. I also heard something about the creators dropping out of it too. Well we all know the show is going to end sometime, the closer Clark is to flying the closer the show is to ending. BOOO!!!

i checked kryptonsite.com & it's true that michael rosenbaum's leaving smallville. he will still be in some of the episodes in season 8 but he is no longer a regular. kryptonsite also mentioned a new female villain. can't wait for the final season. kryptonsite said it's coming out on september.

I think he confirmed will not play in season 8 you can read some news from the Kryptonsite here http://www.kryptonsite.com/. . It's sad to see one of the longest and best actor in the series has gone for now because it was him that make the story very interesting. The character he hold is so great with all the money, power, and his hunger for knowledge.

The way Lex express his words and attitudes shows that he is the kind of man who can protect his own wealth and power. Great character!!
