4 dead and 20 injured over the weekend

Another headline from the Iraq war. It is getting sickining to have this be the only news from Iraq. But this headline is not from Iraq. It is from Chicago, IL. In the span of 17 hours this past weekend the killings happened and most of the victums were innocient by standers. The police are limited in what they can do by the rights given to the criminals. In most communities the vagerancy laws have been declaired unconstitional. Gangs are running wild, shooting and killing at will. They don't care who gets hurt or injured. Maybe we need to forget being nice to the criminals and start to treat them like the Sheriff in Maricopa County AZ does. His overflow jail is US Army tents in a secure compound with no Air Conditioning. His reasoning is if it is good enough for our troops then it is good enough for the prisoners. The inmates have to work to pay for their meals. No TV or Weight lifting equipment. They inmates are issued pink underware and tee shirts to wear under their Orange jail suits. It is not suprising that he has few repeat offenders. Maybe Jails and prisons should not be a place for these criminals to go and earn the badge of honor in the criminal world but rather a place that they want to avoid. Maybe it needs to be place where it is hard labor, and few of the comforts of home. Maybe if the police could pick the up and if they could not show a legal means of supporting themselves they are arrested and put to work on a clean up crew for a month and then they have to get a job. Maybe if we took stronger action against the men and boys who are getting the teen girls pregnant and then not supporting the child. Maybe we give them the option get a real job or join the Prison "Chain Gang" cleaning up the highways and streets. Maybe we could stop some of this random killing of innocent people.
