I thought that all Wrestlemania, WWF wrestling TNT wrestling , etc are just fake acting. I still see them on TV though especially in the sports channels. Why are they still popular? Cant they been banned. Even for entertainment I think they are pathetically a bad influence. What is your opinion?

My brother loves wrestling even though he knows its fake. He basically sees it like a male soap opera/drama. I hate it and think its a bad influence as I'm sure kids are acting these moves out but I think banning it is too far. I'm a big fan of UFC and I think it should be up to parents to block channels from young children. If we banned wrestling why not Nascar? It promotes speeding and crashing cars? The NFL is a very violent sport, one could argue more violent than wrestling in some ways. I think it'd be too easy to cross the line and pretty soon we'd have nothing good on tv.

Thats an interesting and rational point of view. Banning all sports is gonna end up ... duh! Why.... even golf can sometimes get violent!

Yes i too am of the view that all fights are predecided and its just a case of entertaining people. I too used to view thse fights but am no longer interested in them. I feel that they attract so much popularity for they are great actors who show that they are different from the larger lot of us having extraordinary strength and power. Its just like watching a stunt live.

Even if it's fake it's still fun to watch sometimes. They can pull some good stunts.

Of course they are faking all those stunts they make. It make them look like some kind of super hero. My 12 year old son love to watch them very much that he wants to be just like them. He even argue with me when I told him that it is all fake. Now thats what I call bad influence. I think they are popular because many out there dreamed to be like them, strong and unafraid to do all those dangerous thing. So since they cant be like them, they watch them to satisfy their inner dream. This type of sports should be banned definitely or at least should be banned from TV.

I really hate wrestling. I think it's barbaric and gross. I have no desire to watch people fight or fake-fight like that.

I completely agree with the first response you got to this discussion! I personally don't like it but it does get watched here with small children present. FIL runs the house when he's home and gets down right beligerent if he can't watch his shows. I would try to keep the boys busy or get them to bed before it comes on but he insists it's harmless fun for boys....I know, I know, I'm their mother so it should be my decision not his but that's how it is here and if I go against him things are 10 times more stressful than they are already.

Yes, they are all fake, in the sense that these people aren't truly fighting. What they do is choreographed to look like they are fighting, but reduces the possibility of injury. However, it takes a lot of skill and strength to pull these moves off, and still people get injured every now and again. So basically all wrestling is is a male soap opera, complete with written storylines. I don't think it should be banned, but parents should at least talk to their kids about what is going on, and make sure they are not trying it at home. Even the WWE tells you so before each show comes on. But it is entertaining, and it makes money so, I guess it will continue.

Banning them I guess is extreme - but I still dont see why kids should be allowed to see them and made to believe it is real. Just a short warning before the episodes wont suffice. Imagine showing various se++x scenes on TV which kids watch with a warning saying dont try this at home!

Its actually not a short warning. Its been a while since I have watched wrestling myself, so I don't remember the whole of it. It goes something like these are professionals... even they get battered and bruised...done in a professional setting... and then at the end it shows the WWE logo with the words don't try this at home, and then again in fine print don't try this at home (Never understood the purpose of repeating it in fine print though) Yes, its not good that kids watch this stuff, but its not the responsibility of Vince McMahon to keep them away. The responsibility lies with the parents. Use the v-chip, talk with your kids. If you don't want them watching it, explain that to them, tell them why. You can't blame wrestling for the violence they see, its up to us!!!

it is all fake the wrestlers cooperate in the match ut are told who will start off dominating and who will win and we are told during the show that the wrestlers are trained pros and they are trained to perfect the moves and do them safely. it is very popular because it is very entertaining. why would they bann it lots of people love watching it for entertainment and saying they are a bad influence is just like saying action films are a bad influence
