OMG!!! Cheerleader's dying left and right! |
|
For any parent of a cheerleader, or a cheerleader. Read this story. I dont want to be morbid, but I can not believe how many cheerleaders die from doing different tricks at practice, and even at competitions! This is a pretty scary deal. http://news.myspace.com/p...

2. rexiemay (348) | 6 months ago | i guess cheerleaders should be careful in doing their stunts. ive been a cheerleader also and i always see to it that i can do the stunts and that somebody spots me so that if there are accidents i could be given first aid immediately. i just hope that teens would be more careful. their perfect twists and tumblings are nothing if they suffer from broken neack or worse, death.

jess368 (1162) | 6 months ago | The first story was about a girl at competition, and she did a trick, and she was knocked out. It took the paramedics 30min, to get there, by then she had lost too much oxygen. And her spotter lost his balance, so he was not of any help. I know all things can be dagerous, but this is a little to dangerous for my comfort.

3. lilybug (8947) | 6 months ago | Some of the stunts you see cheerleaders doing are scary. I have not heard of any of the cheerleaders around here getting hurt, but I know that they do. My daughter is still too young for cheerleading, so I have awhile before I have to worry about it.

4. cdparazo (3662) | 6 months ago | The stunts being perform by cheerleaders are very dangerous. One could tell by looking at it. I am actually not surprised that there are girls dying because of it because it is just an accident waiting to happen. As a parent, I would certainly discourage my daughter to be a cheerleader. I have a 6-year old daughter now who is into rhythmic gymnastics and that is the only extent that I would allow her to get involve. I don't want her to do all those back flips 15-20 feet in the air.

5. wickedangel (1388) | 6 months ago | OMG this is absolutely awful. I know cheerleading like any sports is very competitive and kids just want to take part but there must be more safety for the kids taking part, especially for those doing these 'unsafe' manoeuvres. How sad to see your child killed or worse (for me) paralysed for life and perhpas not evening recognising you (as in one case). Is it really necesasry for them to do these things? Thanks for sharing this with us

6. CheshireKat (433) | 6 months ago | That's a little scary. Admittedly in high school I always considered the Cheerleaders to be a little airheaded/ditsy and never considered how dangerous their stunts were. (No one has really gotten seriously injured near where I live, I guess because the stunts aren't as intense as the ones that occur in higher level competitions.) This is definitely something parents should consider before letting their daughters join in cheerleading.
