I used both. If I am in a seminar, lecture or school I am making use of my USB to store topics discussed. However, in the office I usually transfer files to my diskette insteas of USB. For me both has its purpose, and for me, I uses it both in different reasons. But I still transfer important topics to my computer, either those in USB or Diskette. How about you, do you use both or what is your choice and why.

hi bagumbayan!
I don't use diskettes anymore. no one uses diskettes here at the office anymore. even people I meet during seminars and trainings, they don't use diskettes anymore. they prefer USBs or flash disks. I prefer flash disks too because I can save a lot of different files there and its not easily damaged or infected by a virus unlike with a diskette. I can save tons of files in a flash disk without replacing it every now and then. I can save a lot of photos, videos, songs, powerpoint presentations, etc.
another advantage is when one USB port in the CPU is damaged, there are other ports at the back and at the front of the CPU where the USB can be inserted. unlike with the disk drive, its only one and if it gets damaged, you'll not be able to use the diskette.

are you talking about floppy diskettes or cd as in vcds?? coz i thought you were talking about floppy diskette versus the USB. coz if you were talking about vcds, then we certainly still use them at the office. but with floppy diskettes, we don't know them anymore. ^__^;;

Ans there are usb with big memories, 8 gigs and so on. yes, it is a good thing usb was created and there are lots of information that can be stored in it. But if it will be affected by virus too then theres the problem also. We still use disketee here in the office, other offices requesting us to submit diskettes and we do that. I also have some personal files in diskettes files. But I am using usb too. thanks for the response.

Well I practically use USB these days as diskettes has become unrealible already. I really do not know but so far all those files that I store in a diskette deteriorates over time and becomes so unusable in time. Whereas a USB can really last that long.

Yeah maybe you're right about that but I noticed that quality wise the product has already deteriorated. if you would compare a floppy disk before and now they are different in terms of thickness and durability. I do have old diskettes before and they are still intact in terms of structure as compared to today's diskettes.

You might be storing it in some hot places. And be sure the place is airy and you have to clean it once in a while. I still use diskette but most often usb. Thanks for the response.

There are some enterprising people who usually do that, shortselling many people. But there are some companies still are making the best quality items because good things will not let them down. There are many fakers nowadays and thats what usually can be found on sidewalks and some not so legal sellers. Consumers beware. Thanks again.

Most computers now don't have the drive A for the diskette anymore and Drive A could be very problematic too. My computer crashed two times because of infected diskettes so I had it removed. Thumbdrives also get infected with virus but if your computer has a good antivirus it should be fine. Aside from that flashdrives or thumbdrives have bigger storage so I definitely prefer them.

Yes for a small thing 1 or 2 GB can be stored in. For small demo or copying some print I still use the diskette and usb to store more. For seminar, conferences usb is very helpful, you can easily copy topics. Thanks for the reponse.

I used both. I used diskette to back up important files. There are still some computers that's having a hard time recognizing USB's. Sometimes if i rent in an internet cafe and have to save some files i used my diskette, i rarely use my USB in cafes to avoid virus.

Thats best. I am also very careful in using usb on computers I am not familiar with. Its true diskette with lesser mb for copying and then transferring it to your file with higher mb. Thanks for the response.
