Fixing a decorating mistake!

I just finished off my basement. I chose a color blue from a booklet that would match the drapes and rugs. Once it was up, I hated it. Too bright. Not at all what it looked like on paper. Good thing is, I can always repaint. Even one wall at a time.
What is your shade a color of?

Mine was just a fabric mistake since I couldn't paint there. In the store it looked like a slightly bright but not terribly bold blue sail cloth. I chose that along with some cream colored sail cloth. I got as far as making the curtains and totally hated it. Once in the house surrounded by all white walls, the blue looked like cheap, faded denim and the cream looked dingy. Ugh.

When I finally got to I went in the completely opposite direction with fuschia and black! I loved it...My mom kept trying to get me to take her nice, sane, ruffly cream ones...

Oh yeah, I can feel your pain on decorating mistakes. A few years ago we decided to paint our living and dining room (one long room). We wanted a pretty sage green color and went off to the paint store to find the perfect shade of green. We brought home some paint cards and held them up to the walls in various spots within the room. We wanted to see what the varying amounts of light from the windows would do to the color. We chose a green, had them mix 2 gallons and went home to paint. As we painted, I thought that it looked very 'minty' but we kept painting ...assuming that as the paint dried it would be better. We finished the room and it looked so very minty. But, we didn't want to spend the money to go buy 2 more gallons. I lived with it for a couple of years but recently painted over it with a warm camel color.
