I still can't get over the seagulls ... |
|
I think that the seagulls were THE funniest part of Finding Nemo, because they seriously sound so exactly like a bunch of Aussie guys talking to each other. I've heard it many times ... "Mate, MATE, mate!" Too funny! What made you really laugh in this movie?

1. ErrollLeVant (1976) | 3 months ago | I laughed when Dorie talked to the whale! But as to the seagulls, I thought they sounded more like a two year old, "Mine, mine"

penny64 (176) | 3 months ago | Yes, that was very funny too. So unexpected! Umm, some Aussie blokes do sound like two year olds ...;D Believe me, if you ever get to hear a group of Aussie guys talking in a pub, you'll know what I mean about the seagulls ... lol!

penny64 (176) | 3 months ago | I only saw it myself recently, because I bought if for my daughter for Christmas. It is worth seeing - there are a lot of jokes for adults as well as for the kids. Then again, I wouldn't want to put you off your fishing;D

jer31558 (2178) | 3 months ago | Well, I could borrow a portable dvd player, that way I could watch the movie and still fish. LOL

penny64 (176) | 3 months ago | You might not WANT to fish after you've seen the movie. It kind of looks at things from a fishy point of view ... if you get my drift.

jer31558 (2178) | 3 months ago | I am just not sure there is anything that would make me not want to fish.

penny64 (176) | 3 months ago | That's good then;-) See it if you get the chance. It's a very good movie, even for adults.

4. overwings (1005) | 3 months ago | So, that's what they say in English. Funny. I've seen the Russian version and there they say Dai! dai! what mean give give! Now my little daughter says that when she wants something quick.

penny64 (176) | 3 months ago | That's funny and cute:) Interesting that it was translated that way, as the "mate" bit wouldn't work without the Aussie accents. My little daughter quotes the movie too, and is always so excited when she sees a clownfish on tv, the aquarium or pet shop. The movie really does have universal appeal, no matter where you are or how old you are!

overwings (1005) | 3 months ago | She also learnt there how to say "Sydney" properly and she recognises the bay also in real images on TV. She doesn't hear much English apart from cartoons from time to time but at that age brains are like sponges.

penny64 (176) | 3 months ago | I know what you mean. My daughter has picked up a lot of Spanish from Dora the Explorer. I think it is great that they can experience some international culture at such a young age. One day in the future your daughter might even come to Sydney and wonder why it seems so familiar!

5. cjgrooms (2252) | 3 months ago | I have never seen this movie. But i did use to watch a show called "Mcleods Daughters" (i believe was the name of it) because of their accent, i could listen to it all day. Unfortunantly it stopped showing here!

penny64 (176) | 3 months ago | Yes, I do know the show but haven't actually watched it. I've heard that it's very good, and that it's popular here and around the world. I love listening to different accents too.
