What changes or cutbacks have you made to afford to put gas in your car?

I have cut back on just driving in general. I really need to buy sugar, but I need gas to take my son to the doctors, so I will have to put gas in the car. Also this summer, I am not going to be able to go fishing because I won't be able to afford to drive to the lake to fish this year. What changes are you making?

We don't go anywhere. For the most part it can be upward to 5 days of not leaving the house. I am in off season so don't go to work right now. We make one big grocery shopping trip at the beginning of the month then about midway in the month will make a small trip.

My priorities have without a doubt changed. I have always been on a tight budget but have somehow been managing to squeeze it a bit tighter. I personally don't need much to live and be happy. My biggest splurges when I did have the extra money were on my 14 year old. For a short time after her 3 older sisters moved out, we did have some extra money flowing and I kind of spoiled her a bit....me too...it felt good to be able to do things with her and for her. Things I always would have loved to do for the others but there was just too many of us. She is my last one and for once I had the time and the money but it was a brief adventure. Now she is having to cut back on the good hair products and clothes. She is pretty good about it but it is an adjustment. I also used to be more than willing to run her and her friends around and now they have to plan their trips and do a bit more walking. Its tough. I know our summer adventures are going to be very local this year.

I don't have a car, never had one in my life. My boyfriend was considering getting one, but now he says with the rises prices of gas he just does not want one.

I needed milk really bad the other day but my tank was close to being on empty and I had someplace important to be so instead of going to get milk I had to put it in the tank so I could get to that appointment (it was for food stamps) so I knew I was going to be able to have milk in the future I just had to put off getting any. I remember the good old days when a gallon of gas was under 2.00
