Tim Gets His Own Flavor of Fritos!  |

 I read about this on CMT.com this morning. Tim McGraw gets his own flavor of Fritos at Walmart. I found it interesting that the new chips will only be marketed at Walmart! Maybe they will be the test market! Just think we can all eat Tim McGraw Doritos, haha!

A new flavor of chips, called Tim McGraw's Spicy Jalapeno Fritos, will be stocked in Wal-Mart stores beginning next week. In addition, a DVD of McGraw's backstage footage from his upcoming tour will be sold at Wal-Mart in September. McGraw will also appear in TV and print ads for the company. Fritos is the "official snack" of McGraw's new tour which begins on May 9 in Tampa, Fla. The company will also sponsor the tour's StyleSonic stage featuring new artists chosen by McGraw.

As for the chips only being sold at Walmart- that's not a test market, that's because Walmart likes to dominate the market. They have been known to strong-arm manufacturers into selling only to them in order to give them an edge.
I have heard of companies sponsoring specific events or organizations, but this is the first I have heard of them sponsoring an individual- or at least an individual who is not an athlete.

I am a fan of Tim Mcgraw and while I say this won't effect my purchasing of these chips, it actually probably will. I thought putting celebrity names on products was stupid and I could not figure out this influences people to buy the product especially when they are food products. The other day I was at the gocery store and was trying to pick a flavor of Ben & Jerry's. I saw Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream ice cream and I pretty much bought it just because his name was on it. It is amzing how this works. I would guess that these fritos will sell like crazy.

Well this really sucks. I LOVE Tim McGraw. However, I cannot stand spicy food.
Well I might have to just grin and bear it. If Tim endorses them, I have to give them a try.
I would do pretty much anything for Tim lol.

I had some of the hotter varieties of Doritos and usually my mouth was so hot that I couldn't even enjoy the flavor! I do like spicy, but not extra extra spicy. I'd probably try a couple if someone bought them though... but I don't shop at Walmart so I guess I might never see them!

I'm sure it was more like Frito Lays knocking on his door and not Tim knocking on Frito Lays door pitching the idea. You would think they would do this in the winter, chips sell better in the summer months anyway. Who knows! | |
