Has anyone here learnt English as a Foreign Language? How long was your course? Did you find it useful? Did you learn in your country or in an English-speaking country? I'm interested as I'm thinking of teaching English to foreign students and I want to know how useful this would be.

hey, I'm from China. Here, we learn English as a foreign language since we get into the junior middle school. And these years, kids of the third year in their primary schools must learn English. Some are taught even early. As to the college students, whatever their major may be, they must learn English as well. And they also have to meet a certain standard, that's known as CET( college English Test). There are two levels, level 4 and level 6. If one fails to pass the level 4, he cannot get a bachelor's degree. English is a global language. Our education pays much attention to English learning. I have foreign teachers in my university. They are mainly from American and have a good relationship with us. My major is English culture and literature. So, I have been studying English for 9 years. And I'm still learning it now. However, the problem is I seldom have opportunities to talk with native speakers. Therefore, I think your idea is quite a good one. It meets the demand. Good luck.

Hi There. Here in our country, English is like our second language. Since nursery or kindergarten, we were taught to speak or sing english rhymes or songs. I believe it is very useful because English is like the international language in this world. Cheers!

I am from India, where according to the Education system, English is one of the languages that kids are taught right from their childhood along with their mother tongue. I am a HR person and trainer by profession, but my command over is English is quite good and I take grammar classes for kids very often. It is a good choice to teach English to foreign students. All the best.
