i never experience this but everyday time on my grocery activities i am afraid that my cash is lacking, what if they don't accept credit card. what an embarrassing moment. I never calculate the items i've got and bring it to the cashier because i am ashamed somebody caught me doing calculations. Did you experience?

The only time I could remember a place not accepting credit cards for me is when they had a power outage earlier during the day due to a thunder storm. Just about every place accepts credit cards where I live. Hey every place I know does where I live.

yes i experienced this when i was a kid, i was only short for .25 cents but it was really pretty embarrassing. i even asked the cashier what i should do, and she told me that's ok, it's only a small amount. but it's really really embarrassing and i cannot get over that event and i am an adult already! so i am very very cautious now with the sum of my purchases before i go to the cashier.

yhea it happened to me sometime specially when I forgot my cellphone...I used to calculate my items when I bought them using my cellphones calculator so that I can budget my money. I told the cashier that I will removed some not so important things so that my money will fit.

Not really. Because I am not a frequent shopper and its my wife who do the buying of grocery items for the house.
But I had similar experience, the thought that it might be over my allowable credit. I use to pay some stuffs using my credit card and sometimes I am not so sure of my balance so there I go, anxious if I would be asked to add some cash which I dont have in my pocket, lol.

i dont know if you get some sort of promotion papers of the stores near you? They are those printed papers with all the promotions items and prices. I got them regularly from various stores. so i would browse them and decide what i would like to buy, those items are usually cheaper than normal prices, and i combine them and make a list, in this way you can calculate how much cash you need to bring to each store (each store might have different things on sale, that is why important to go to different stores for those specials -- if they are close to you),and you can avoid the shame of calculating in front of all people in the store.
Please also note that the amount you are carrying must be more than you have calculated, just to leave a margine for yourself

It happened many times for me, but luckily they accepted credit card most of the times.
If they weren't, I wouldn't be embarrassed... I would attack them like "What? You don't accept Mastercard? What kind of business do you run? You expect me to walk around with bunch of cash?" and something like that...
So people, don't ever feel embarrassed about the amount of money you carry in your pockets!

I've never had that happen but I have come really close. There have been times when I would go to the store with my list and had to write down the cost of each item so that I could know how much I was spending. Sometimes I had to put something back cause I thought I did not have enough money.

can't imagine there are many places that do not accept credit cards these days. I always use my debt card at the market. I try to have a general idea of what the bill will be since I buy the same things usualy but I can never be exact.
