What things do you collect? Are you sentimental about anything you collect? |
|
My mother collected owl statues. One friend of mine seems to collect books and clothing. One sister collects tea cups. Still another sister collects sea shells. My dad collected stamps and coins. And everyone seems to have a collection of photographs. I have a collection of polished rocks that were given to me by my adopted Lakota brother... I have also bought a few of my own. I think that they are so pretty and healing too. I hold one stone in particular and it feels as if my brother Luis, He who walks with many bears, is still alive because I found it near my car tire parked on a street near my apartment complex on my birthday after mourning the fact that he had died three months earlier and would not be giving a stone to me as he always did on my birthday... I was surprised to see the polished dogtooth amythest near my car tire and knew that it was a gift from him as there was no other explanation for it. What do you collect? Do you have any sentimental feelings about any objects in your collection?

1. sisterjinx (899) | 3 months ago | We are full time RVers so collecting things becomes trickier. We have limited space. However we do collect DVD's. This is more so that we will have a lot of options for things to watch in case we are at a place that does not have cable and we get bored. Before we moved into the camper full time we had about 300 but we cut that down to about 150. We simply gave away the movies we knew we wouldn't watch again. And now we are starting to buy more. We really enjoy buying seasons of shows we like alot. We have all first 6 seasons of Charmed right now and are going to be buying the last two over the next couple of months. Then we will start on a new series.

whiteheron (893) | 3 months ago | Thanks for sharing about your collection of unicorns and butterflies... It is sad when things break and sadder still when friends pass... Yet life happens. Your butterflies speak of transitions, of new ways of change and living... and your unicorn speaks of purity and magic... Nice collections to have.

3. teka44 (1296) | 3 months ago | Hi whiteheron. I collect books and I have one book that is very old and can not be found any more. I have sentimental feelings about all books I have but in special for this one.

whiteheron (893) | 3 months ago | I can understand that as it cannot be replaced... Do you mind if I ask which book is it?

4. moolahmagnet (1417) | 3 months ago | When I went to Las Vegas and visited a friend of mine, I was amazed with her daughter's collection of panda bears. The whole room is practically filled with it, big and small panda bears! I thought that was cool, I used to collect bells but I've only got few left, I guess from moving houses, they all disappeared! G'day!

whiteheron (893) | 3 months ago | Panda bears would indeed be a cute thing to collect. I have a few bells... but do not want to collect them. I am glad that you have a few of them left. I must admit that I love your dancing penguin avitar. It is so cute!

| 5. ajhienomoto (67) | 3 months ago | I know it may sound weird, but I'm actually starting my bus ticket collection! Haha. I'm a commuter, which is why I get to ride the bus everyday to school, or to any place I go to, for that matter. I'm not sure if it's the same where you're from, but here, we step inside the bus, the 'konduktor' approaches, we pay our fare, and he/she gives us these pieces of bus tickets equivalent to how much we paid. After every week, I have this huge pile of bus tickets at home, and as time passed, I thought about actually collecting them, instead of just throwing them away. As I've mentioned, I'm just starting my collection, so I can't really claim any 'sentimental' attachment to any of them. But I'm sure there will be.. some day. xoxo, ajhie!

whiteheron (893) | 3 months ago | I would wonder if perhaps there is a bit of artwork that you could make with those bus coupons... and maybe a few other bits of recycled materials... It might be interesting to make an artistic masterpiece to collect instead of just the bus coupons.

whiteheron (893) | 3 months ago | I love rocks too and am glad that my adopted brother was kind enough to give me a lot of them. He did so because he knew that I felt the energy of them... I must admit to liking sometimes to arranging them in patterns just to see how it shifts the energy of them... from disharmony to harmony and balance... It is a fun practice. I though have no boulders... I live in an apartment so the boulders would be out of the question... I have a citrine, quartz and smoky quartz stone that is big enough to be held in two hands and that is the biggest one of my collection. What do your boulders look like? Are your stones colorful or just browns and pinks of granite, flint, etc.
| |
|
|
anawar (836) | 3 months ago | Wow! I'm so happy I can join in you in loving rocks. Doesn't that sound funny? I move my rocks around as well. It does change the energy flow which changes things in my life. My two boulders are very light in colour. They remind me of giant potatoes. With the help of a friend, I pried them from the dirt that runs by the railroad tracks where I used to live. They probably weigh around 30 pounds each, and my friend carried them all the way back home for me. I think it was about a 1/2 trek or more. I don't have too much for crystals or precious stones. Certainly not the size you mentioned! I have one rose quartz and one clear quartz. I have one that is flat, like a slab cut from inside a mountain. I have a grey crystal, and a small rose formation crystal. I forget what they're all called, I guess I should try to remember. I bought one crystal formation inside a rock because I saw the number seven inside the crystal. When I pointed it out to the sales lady, she was surprised to see a seven when I pointed it out. She made my day by telling me that the crystals talked to me. I have some stones I hold in my hand. Some are beautiful river rocks and a few with small fossils, nothing of great interest. One thing that makes it difficult to reply to comments is that your last comment doesn't come up when I hit add comment. So, I have to try and remember what I read and I know I forgot some of it. I don't know how to say good-bye now, because I don't want to break this rock connection. I know, I'm silly sometimes. I'll catch you later. I'll request your friendship if I haven't yet. It's easier to talk one on one.

|
whiteheron (893) | 2 months ago | My appologies about responding to your post so late... I am glad that you and I are friends... That stone thing is special... Seeing a seven is very cool especially as the Native Americans see it as one of their very special numbers as in there are seven directions, the four directions plus up and down and the seventh direction is within you... It sounds like your collection is made even more special because of the fact that you have had to struggle to get some of them from the ground so you have the energy of place as well as the energy just of the polished stones or of the people who gave them to you... that is way cool It was great to read this tonight... I never got an email that you had written it otherwise I would have responded earlier... Please forgive me.

|
anawar (836) | 2 months ago | No need for forgivness. I don't think mylot sends e-mails for second responses. I read it somewhere a few days ago. Thanks so much for telling me about the number 7. That means more now, because I have a rock that some people have speculated might be from Native American culture. Someone even tried to buy it from me when he saw it! There's some pictures of it on my page. You can't really get a feel for it unless you see it, but the pictures will give you some idea. Someone on mylot thinks it's a stone formed by nature, not man. Either way, I'm happy with it. It's my favourite stone, but the other stones don't know about it. Thanks for your lovely words. I will always remember them.
