I think my life will be quite different than today. The international calls are quite expensive because of no internet. We still use posts. And I will keep on sticking the TV. And I have more time for my other interests. 20 years later, perhaps I am not so good at learning new technology. And I will need longer time to learn how to take advantage of the internet.

20 years before now people are communicating with the kind of technology they have at hand and life in the real sense is not hard for them then, is now that we see those days as a hard or difficult old days. And now the internet and other form of technology is here, to make allot of things(communications) easy. Note it in the next 20 years better internet and other form of information technology will come, and that which we know now will be old fashion

its surely very different in our life now dear. if internet just introduce in 2028, i think we will write message to our friends using postal mail as like before and make bank transaction only with ATM machines.
lots of thing will be change but definetely, we would not connect easily each other as like we have internet in our days

Hello youless!:-)
First thing I am sure of about that scenario is that we wouldn't be discussing this issue now! :-)
Internet have changed our way of living life in both good and destructive ways and it's actually 'us' who decide whether or not it is being used in good way. I believe communications would be still slow and not so frequent if internet was not here, it's very cheap to call using internet. The idea of global village could not have been materialized, as yet, as because of internet individuals can communicate with each other and fetch news of choice, without internet, only governments and bigger agencies would be telling us what is going around in the world around us.
Internet helps greatly in research, so without it, the process would still be much slow compared to what it is with internet.
On the other side, we would be spending more time with our family and friends. It is a shame that while we know what is going on in the lives of people thousands of miles away, people are usually unaware of what's in the lives of their parents and close friends and not so far neighbors. Internet has changed the way we socialize with people and it has made connections "fluid", if you know what I mean?

Thank you for the best response, youless!:-)
And, I am sorry about the loss of life and property in your homeland due to earthquake. I hope rescue teams are doing their best. I know that china quickly moved its armed forces which was the right step to do. I hope their are least losses in the aftermath.

I think my life would still be very backward. I think I might just stick with the TV (even though I don't like watch it), reading books and magazines all the time and hang out with friends. I don't think I would be making this many new friends online and I think I would still be living in my own world without any quick information exchange with the rest of the world.

I think communication would have been very slow. with internet we can see each other even in distant places across countries. it's only we can't send parcels and others of that nature even with that we can send documents through the internet which has improved a fastest way of giving information. well without it, life for others who are internet mothers would be without children. by this i mean those who use it for livelihood. there're people who can't and don't use it.

Hi youless! I think I will be watching tv more and spending lots of time on my crafts. Maybe, I will be out socializing or spend more time with my aunts on bingo days. And just like you, it will be very difficult for me to learn the technology of the internet if it will just be invented 20 years from now. i don't think an old mind can absorb it quickly. It will take me a lot longer to learn how to use it just like how my grandfather is having a hard time now with new technology. Just my thoughts dear friend. Take care and have a nice day!

If this is the case... then the post office will still be swarming with tons of mails... there by making it more slow than it is today... i would also be in the possession of a typewriter... but the electronic one...
Aside for that... communication will be very slow and expensive... since we only get to use the telephone and cell phone...
I love the internet...

If the internet was invented 20 years later times would still be slower because the intenet made times speed up. Since I would not know the internet was not invented I would not be getting upset about no internet. Who knows people may not be as crazy if there still was no internet.

if that will be invented after 20 years later, i think everyone will use letter that will send through post office and will deliver by post man or courier,it will be hard to communicate and also hard to do things such as typing and saving large amount of data.
