If gas prices these days have become a huge part in your budget and is preventing you to travel well here's some tips on how to save. 1)Drive at the speed limit or a bit slower. Driving at 120km/h burns 20 per cent more fuel than 100km/h, while dropping down to 90km/h saves another 10 per cent. 2) Use cruise control to keep highway speeds constant, and keep the windows closed to reduce air friction. 3)Air-conditioners can boost fuel consumption by 20 percent , so use the car's flow-through ventilation instead. 4)Maintain proper tire pressure, as under-inflation wastes fuel. 5)Anticipate traffic ahead to avoid sudden braking and acceleration. Fast starts and hard braking can sharply increase fuel use. 6) Remove unnecessary weight- items you carry but do not use- along with non-essential addons such as roof racks that can break the air flow. 7) Reduce idling. 8) Paln your route to avoid heavy traffic areas, road construction and hilly terrain, if possible. 9) Shift manual transmissions gently but quickly to the higher gears where the engine works more efficiently and uses less fuel. 10)For automatic transmissions, use overdrive at higher speeds to reduce the engine's workload. I got these tips from the Canadian Automobile Association. I'm not sure about how to convert the km/h to MPH for the United States, so I'll leave that up to you and hopefully these tips help you save some gas... and money

Here in the Philippines we are advice to maintain it at 80km/h for an economy drive. May I add that a properly tuned-up engine is a big factor too. Thanks for sharing this Nixxi.

I have heard most of these tips before, last summer I believe when we began noticing extreme hikes in the prices. Problem is, implementing some of them is easier said than done. If you have A/C in the car, you want to use it on hot days. If you don't, you want the windows down! Driving the speed limit... well, I don't know about you, but I never heard of a speed limit :D Most of the rest is pretty simple, like the planning your routes and paying attention to traffic reports, that saves time and cost, so yeah who wouldn't want to do that? Thanks for sharing!

Hi katsmeow, I'm glad you appreciate this post. I know it's not comfortable to keep the windows down in really hot hot weather instead of using the A/C. They tell you to keep your windows rolled up so it doesn't cause a drag with wind, so I"m not sure how that will work out lol. Thanks for your post
