How do you change formats from mpeg files to mov or avi files?

How do you change files in the formats of mpeg to mov or avi files? I am trying to post up some videos on a website but having difficulty changing the formats.. does anyone here know how this is done? Your help is very much appriciated!

U can use softwares like xvid video converter or many others you could get for free from download.com.

I use Total Video Converter, it is not a freeware but it is a great software so many formats and so easy to use.

I downloaded a program called AVS4YOU and it's alright but I just can't make the video smaller but thank you for your advice, maybe I'll try what you're using Thank you wickedself

I believe the right format for websites are FLV, they are much more smaller like YouTube has, I'm still searching for a converter, but if you want to convert it to MOV or AVI then try this http://www.mediacoderhq.com/

Thanks ferdzNK, I'm downloading it as we speak, but it looks complicating. I'm going to try figure it out after it's finished
