Why don't men where engagement rings?

To be honest that is a good question. I have never actually thought about that. I dont really think guys should wear them. That is my own personal opinion though. I have never thought of a guy wearing a diamond ring. I have seen some guys wear those "promise" rings that look nothing more than an every day wedding band. Other than that, I just wouldnt think of a guy wearing them. It is a good thought though.

That is a good question. I think it might be based on the old fashioned idea that a taken women should be obviously so, or in more modern terms the fact that women tend to be more materialistic than men and appreciate gifts more.

In our culture, both the man and woman wear an engagement ring (we don't exchange rings for the wedding and continue wearing the engagement ring after marriage).
The man's ring has the woman's first name engraved on it and the woman's ring has the man's first name engraved on it.

I use to ask my boyfriend (now fiance)if I were to propose to you would you accept the ring and he said no; because it wouldn't be right! I guess the guy just feels old-fashioned in that sense.

Maybe the only way to get a boyfriend something to show that you are his forever, maybe a watch, bracelet with a message enscribed in it!

I assume it's just tradition. It's just always been that the man asks the woman for her hand in marriage, and if she accepts, he slips a ring on her finger. I am not sure if it symbolizes commitment as much as it does that she is a bride-to-be!

I think if both are whole-heartedly committed each other, wearing a band symbolizing their love and commitment is fair enough for both of them:)

Men don't wear engagement rings after they get married because that they are special.Or they can't work safely and easily while they are working.Or women are very precious.

Well ring are not a man's thing, they want their hands free-many others enjoy being eligible and some ring around the hand just complicates them from being available!

I know a few men that have an engagement ring, although I know it's definitely not very common.

All I can assume is that some men think it's a bit girly, or maybe they don't know that there is such a thing as a mans engagement ring.

In fact ladies are fond of wearing ornaments of all types.That's why they keep wearing their rings.On the other hand,men donot want to disclose that they are engaged or married for seeking attention of other girls.So there are many reasons for it.I was never given a golden ring on my marriage because golden things are prohibited for males in Islam.
