Talking Elmo Doll Threatens To Kill Toddler!

Some very strange things have happened with my daughter's toys when the batteries start to get low. The normally happy music and sounds that come from the toys turn very creepy and evil sounding.

She has this one Wiggles game, I think it's called Wiggly Safari. Well when the batteries get low it starts to sound like an evil spirit is speaking in different languages. My daughter has come running to me scared of what her once friendly game has turned into.

I don't think the Elmo doll was intentually made to say "kill", it probably just sounds that way when the toy started to slur it's words.

Hmm that is strange. Maybe the doll is possessed by a negative spirit? That would be the only thing i could imagine why it would say that.

Actually I wouldn't return the doll I'd hold onto it for evidence in the lawsuit they'd be slapped with. The mini computer chip that is in the doll that remembers the childs name and such is PROGRAMED. It is not a tape player that simply records. It is programed which means that someone programed this doll probably to start with the kill recording once the batteries were changed. It's someones idea of a sick joke and actually can be taken one of two ways either "kill james" as in a threat to the child or "kill james" as in giving the child instructions. Either way it's sick.

I think more will come out about this, that is unless it's covered up. The toy manufacturer is issuing them a replacement doll. Not much compensation huh? I will be interested in the follow up stories to see if they find out who is responsible for this. I don't think the child will remember - let's hope not.

Nancy, someone named Kitten posted this story 3 months ago, and although I could not find any reference to it online to back up my recollection, I am positive I heard that same story some years back and with the same name. I find it hard to fathom the supposed coincidence of two different boys named James having toys with the same malfunction, so I wondered it it were just another urban legend. Snopes doesn't have anything about it, so I did a Google search and read some of the other news stories, but none of the reporters actually heard the doll say that, apparently. It is just what the mother reported in her lawlsuit. People who have heard the recording have said it doesn't really sound like "Kill James" to them, however.

I'd be more concerned over the fact that Mattel recently had to recall nearly a million toys, including some of the Elmo's due to high lead content.

out who did that as its a verysick joke to play on a child.

It must have been programed wrong, how on earth would it say that? That is so wrong to the parents and the child. It is a bad joke and the company should be notified soon. The other user stated about a lawsuit...hm I would think about that as well, how bad for the toy to say that

Now that is really creepy. I'm glad I don't buy my son those talking toys. I guess those old lego sets and contruction blocks work better for kids after all. Not only does these types of toys stimulate the child's imagination, they also do not turn nasty when their batteries run low.

Oh my God! This reminds me of Chuckie in the movie Child's Play. LOL

Hi nancyrowina, I can't believe that they would sell dolls like this? Parents will be out raged and I do not think that the doll will be on the market for very long!
